Well it is not good news. 80% of his brain is gone. All that is left are base motor functions. So what made Skye himself as a person is gone. 

 

We have decided to let him go.  He would not want to live in a vegetative state. The tentative time is this Saturday afternoon. Mostly to give his girlfriend a chance to say goodbye. She was in a bit of denial about it all so the news hits her hard. She is only 21 years old. 

 

Anyway, that is the state of things. In some way I kind of knew it, especially when I heard of the severity of the accident. But I could not give up hope. His injury was just too severe and his brain went without enough oxygen for too long. 

 

It is inconceivable, not real and certainly not right, yet it is.  At least in the reality that I find myself in. A strange reality, a sad and heart painful reality. 

 

But we will not forget. He will be with us each day and we will purposely seek out ways in which we can honor him so as to help us remember. He is a bright and shining light in the world. We will remember that light and honor it, bring it forth each and every day.

 

I am in shock and deep heart pain, but I know that he would not want me to be sad. In fact he would always tell me when I was sad to just be happy. It is a choice to feel sad so just choose to be happy. I will try, my boy, I will try.

I wish it could be otherwise but since it is not to be I extend my deepest condolences to his family, you and all his other friends.

Uhm, just to clarify, when you say "he/him" you don't mean a legion of fangirls were attacking BoomBoom. Though that might be kinda fun to watch. Especially if they they bring pitchforks and torches. Oh, and maybe tar and feathers.

I'd gladly share a bit of our warmth. I needed to do some outside work pruning and such to appease the HOA powers-that-be and it was 82/27° but because of the humidity felt like 92/33° at 8:30.
