I'm of the opinion there is no right kind of gay, and I won't speak for Marty, but I found that offensive. I have gay friends throughout the spectrum, and I would never make fun of any of them. Thank you, Gary! I found it offensive as well. Everything you say was what I was thinking when I was reading what was being said. Another reason I, personally, was upset was because it seemed as though someone was being judged entirely because of the way their voice sounded. As a young child I had a very bad speech impediment. I was constantly being made fun of because of it. Not just my peers, but even adults would do that. People just assumed that, because I couldn't talk properly, I was some sort of mental retard. I can remember occasions, when I was out with my mother, other adults actually saying to my mother how sorry they felt for her, having a child like me. "I feel so sorry for you. Just to look at him, he seems so normal" was the sort of thing I would hear being said about me. I think the main reason I wasn't as forceful as you when I made my first comment about not being happy, is that I am a relative newcomer to this forum, so I wasn't sure just what is considered acceptable behaviour in here. That, plus the fact that it is often difficult in text based chat to be sure just how some comments that people make might actually have been intended, due to the fact that there is no body language, or tone of voice, to interpret. (There weren't even any emoticons used in the comments to help me gauge whether they were being said seriously or not.) I'm sorry if me making that original comment has upset any other members of this forum. But it needed to be said, and I will not apologise for saying it. 2 5
Popular Post Bucket1 Posted July 12, 2019 Popular Post Posted July 12, 2019 The things you learn... There have been a couple of mentions/docos/discussions about Stonewall on the radio and while I knew that the Drag Queens were targeted by the police, I never knew it was because they were breaking a statute about wearing gender appropriate clothing Blokes wearing frocks was actually illegal 6 2

Making fun of someone's speech patterns is never acceptable, no matter what the circumstances. You outlined the reasons perfectly. As a speech-language pathologist, this issue hits home for me as well. Thank you for this. 4 4
Site Administrator Popular Post Valkyrie Posted July 12, 2019 Site Administrator Popular Post Posted July 12, 2019 *waves* Hi, all! Sorry I've been so absent. I went on vacation and I've also been dealing with some health issues in addition to the never-ending house renovations. So I'm exhausted all the time and have been reading/lurking more than participating. And no, WQs and Clo... that is not an invitation to raid the herd! 1 6

He knew mom could come pick him up or he could ask for an ambulance taxi to take him home but noooo he took the bus to go shopping in town! Mom caught him half way and brought him home with orders to rest and no going out today Seriously he has his ass still half open with a big bandage but as he doesn't feel pain thought it would be ok 9
