Oh the importance of language and the changing nature of it...

In Oz, queer has very negative connotations for the older cohort of LGBTIQA+ folk where as the younger set have embraced it and claimed it as their own. For the younger people it is gender neutral and covers a multitude of sexualities. I can understand why they want to claim it. For the older generations, being beaten or spat at while being called queer makes it a hurtful word.

Mom says I'm a pain for that  I need to make then settle in my nest before falling asleep. That means beating the pillows, tossing and turning, shaking the duvet a couple time more tossing and turning and finally wrapping myself up to the head like a burrito in the duvet  It's an art!

Good morning, all !  

Another rainy day. 15°C/59°F. Hopefully, like the past few days, the sun will make an appearance in the afternoon/evening.

I'll be heading out soon, and may be gone for much of the afternoon. Lunch with a friend first, followed by a visit to a cross-border heritage event for which a young friend of mine did most of the video work, including editing.

G'day y'all. I stepped out the back door at 4:30 this morning and it felt like walking into a bath. It was 79/26° and incredibly humid. An hour later we were at the park for our walk from there a quick trip into the city to Central Market for a few things. Home again by 7:45. Just relaxing a bit until later this morning and then a trip for groceries and to send a package to mum. We're under heat advisory until late Sunday evening but excessive heat warnings kick in at noon through tomorrow evening. There is a chance that clouds could build in and help keep temps down.

Sounds about the same here.  It was already 80 when I left for work, with oppressive humidity.  The worst of the heat is supposed to be tomorrow, with better temps on Sunday.  There's a chance of a storm either today or tomorrow, but I have a feeling it will only make things worse, not better.  My replacement couch is supposed to be delivered tomorrow afternoon.  Let's hope for better success this time.
