Popular Post MacGreg Posted June 29, 2019 Popular Post Posted June 29, 2019 (edited) Creative writing is a form of artistic expression requiring vision and courage to forge. Other forms of artistic expression require the same -- music, theater, dance, visual art. As a writer, I am influenced and inspired by others' creative endeavors, and I'm frequently in awe of the ingenuity and bravery exhibited. Take this for instance: the reenactment of Caravaggio paintings by the Ludovica Rambelli Theater, set to Mozart's Requiem in D Minor. Feel free to share something that inspires or influences you or that you find beautiful, outrageous or just plain cool. I'd love to see/hear/experience it. Edited June 29, 2019 by MacGreg 4 4
Popular Post Defiance19 Posted June 30, 2019 Popular Post Posted June 30, 2019 This is timely. If you’ve never, and ever have the opportunity to see Alvin ailey’s work, you should. I am always completely stunned by his choreography and his dancers. Not a step out of place, and those lines. I don’t think I breathe during performances. https://www.alvinailey.org/performances/repertory/no-longer-silent I hope this works. Scroll to the bottom for the video which gives a new taste. 5 2

Cool, thanks for the link, Def! I haven't had the pleasure of seeing live, but I'm familiar. There was a dance troupe in Hawaii, Iona Pear, that blew my mind as a teen. Lots of artistic and interpretive dance, like Alvin Ailey. 5 2
Popular Post mollyhousemouse Posted June 30, 2019 Popular Post Posted June 30, 2019 it's not art, but it is beautiful. this place is my heart, my inspiration comes from looking at it and remembering the smells and sounds. Granddad and coffee on the coal and wood range at dawn, the smell of Aunt Thelma's VO5 hair stuff, the sound of Aspen trees while you are resting in the afternoon. we'd be up here for a good part of every summer, it's a wilderness area, there is NO motorized anything allowed. several years ago, there was a huge wildfire, and now it's being decimated by pine beetles there's a good chance it'll burn again. you are looking at the Division of Wildlife's cabin and an inlet. rangers would be here at spawn time to ensure that no one was fishing near this inlet. the cutthroat trout breeds here so fishing is illegal at certain times during the year. 5 1

Never seen Alvin Ailey's primary group but have seen Ailey II a couple of times here at the University, and was able to listen to their artistic director, Troy Powell, talk about the program. Even as Ailey's "in training" troupe, they're amazing and their performances are amazing. "Touch & Agree" was one of the pieces they did, and it was amazing! 4 2

Such serenity in a single photograph, but its the memories that stay with you which are the most impacting. Having a "happy place" to visit, even in the mind, is good for the soul. 4 1
