Maybe in this age, people think if rendering as to do with computers and graphics.

Long before a computer existed, there were and still are companies that take all the deep fryer oil, fat and other meat based waste from restaurants and processors and boil it to a liquid and then evaporate the water off, leaving pure protein. If you ever wonder where you cat and dog food come from, it is the rendered product left over in a  powder that is shipped to the biggest pet food manufacturers around the world.
