Why does he allow me continued access to this site? I'm not sure if it's been done, but maybe our fearless wizard should do one of those interviews where we get a bit of insight into him. And if he's done one, maybe an updated one. I want to know if I'm older than him or if I should address him as sir? The universe needs to know. 1 4 1

Site Administrator Cia Posted March 7 Site Administrator Posted March 7 I've done a few interviews with Myr, but this is the most recent/the only complete one left in existence in the last 5-6 years. I also fall into Xennial (along with my hubby who is a '77). It's a weird switch. I remember learning to type on a typewriter, formatted floppy disks and aligned paper reams to the dot matrix, had AOL and Myspace on our *gasp* home computer I bought at 20, flip phones and slides before the first smartphones came out... I'm infinitely more adaptable to technology than my hubby, but also far more likely to just sit and read quietly. He does so love to be chatting with friends on his phone, playing angry birds on his ipad, and watching YouTube videos on the TV because he's always "bored" at home. 5

Did you have that loaded in your back pocket just waiting for an idiot to ask about you? . My tongue-n-cheek questions you already answered elsewhere. Even your preferred undies. Boxer briefs? *cough* top *cough*. Excuse me, throat. Though it is suspect that your profile, under about, says you are 48. But we don't know when you typed that, that doesn't get updated every year so I'm still not sure if I should call you sir. I'm 51, and if you are currently 48, I shall like to be addressed as sir by you moving forward. Thanks. As for your lack of answer as to your favorite Christmas story way back in 2014, I'm a bit hurt that you didn't say Frosted Hearts or Christmas In Glacier Bay. Both stories feature MM, I'm just saying. I forgot that you wrote a Harry Potter story. I remember liking it a lot, though I am not a Harry Potter fan. Are you ever going to get around to finishing that? See, I can be cheeky too! I shall count my blessing that you failed to answer one of my questions as you might reconsider your decision. I'm off back to work. I have hot wings to cook! 6

BendtedWreath Posted April 13 Posted April 13 I think because I was born closer to the tail end of that generation, I find myself most at ease with everyone born in that timeframe... more than others my age and younger. They are more than a bridge to me, they are beacons and guides that I admire. More often than not, they are not quick to judge, and they treat mistakes like learning opportunities rather than a chance to shame. The ones I've interacted with (both in person and online) are incredibly independent and value vacation time, as the video suggests, to disconnect. It's disheartening to imagine that they feel lonely due to the advancements other generations weren't forced to learn halfway into their lifespans, but the way things are going with AI, it's only a matter of time before my own generation gets a taste of that. 😅 2 3

I was born in the middle of those date ranges but yes I totally feel all of it. I remember when I was like five we could do four digit dialing for in town local calls, then one day it didn’t work anymore and we had to use the prefix code as well. So to go from that to the smart phones we have today is crazy when you think about it. Independent and critical thinking skills were very much required growing up because most of the time parental supervision was almost nonexistent at times. Although a group effort was made by the adults to at least keep kids in line so we didn’t become degenerates. By the time I was 18, the internet was taking off, dialup first then when I was 19 dsl came out of nowhere, then cable. It seemed like every 3 months there was something new. The iPod shook us free of our CD binders, PC gaming advances and video card technology made the original PlayStation that just a few years ago held our teenage life with such reverence seemed old and obsolete. Never mind that old Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis that propped up our social life during the middle school years. Then to have your early adult work life effected by Enron, 9/11, and when you felt like you where finally making it with a job that paid 40+k a year, making more than some of your extended family the 2008 housing crisis shows up, bringing with it massive layoffs, rapid inflation, and a mortgage you suddenly can’t pay for. So you clear the slate, get out from under it before the complete crash, and have to start over while living in an area that has a 14% unemployment rate. And you start over. Again. At this point your so disenchanted because in your short adult life you watched the towers fall, business empires collapse, your credit rating go from “sure!” to “sorry son, would love to help but can’t”, not to mention the ongoing military actions in two countries, and the bodies that keep getting sent home, you’ll believe anybody that says ‘change is something we can believe in!’ And then nothing changes. Growth is stagnant. You have experience and credentials but good luck putting any of it to use. You lose weight not because you want too, because eating costs money which is something you are in short supply of, but change is coming! Just not for you. So you stop relying on what you relied on before to provide for you. You stop believing in everything you’ve been ever told about ‘how the future will be.’ Your motivations change, your thought patterns change. You know you’re getting screwed but instead of complaining about it you consider it as ‘dancing with the devil in the pale moon light.’ You just play your part in the game, work a job you hate for a company you know doesn’t care because the pay is timely the benefits while terrible won’t leave you dying in an ER because that cold you’ve got turned out to be pneumonia. You just play your part. You smile at the things people want you to smile at, say the things that make others feel good. When really you just want to burn it all to the ground. But you’ve learned patience and resilience. And you’ve gotten strength through adversity. You know when your being lied to, you know which truths to believe. And you still play the game, but now you know. There’s a reason why we feel it, why we seem to have that disconnect, and that feeling that we are stuck in the middle. We are our own, born at that perfect time to have both feet firmly in two different worlds and the unfortunate timing of being affected by the crash as both collided with each other. Im not sure I would have had it any other way though, the lessons I learned from the experience just seem like it would be too much to give up. Anyway that kinda went ranty but those of you who know will get it lol. 4 3 1

It's the generation who understands the relationship between cassette tapes and pens and the same generation who can debug and write codes without AI until the analog devices function with words. I see us as developer compared to the millennial generation of just users and I love it to surprise the older generation with knowing how analog things work, while helping teenagers troubleshooting their programs that AI messed up or even joining the kids playing Minecraft while playing chess with the grandpa. @Myr Thanks for sharing and reminding us almost old people how cool we are. Back in the first time I joined GA ( before 2010) I thought of Myr as this peaceful geek Admin with several monitors and keyboards. Peaceful not because I knew him but just because for me Myr is Мир which means peace, which is pretty common in boys names not to be mixed with the Russian "mir" meaning world....so yeah now I'm just thinking Myr is a hologram or something. But if you like being called "sir" because you are that old.... I can do it. Though I'm not sure it even applies to demons. 🤔 1 3

I get why when I'm the new person in a group where everyone what knows each other, although a lot less so online than in person. I felt like that on GA when I moved from only commenting on stories to posting on the forums, which has since completely oassed. But something about your personality made you the first person here that made me feel comfortable without second guessing a lot of what I said. 2 3
