What a shit storm of unfortunate events! It's palpable and I love it! Just when I was getting ready to hate Valerie, you went and made her a good person again. I'm finding a hard time lining up my sights on just who is the victim here, and who is the assailant! I have to say, these three people are NOT having a good day!! Riveting! Can't wait for the next chapter! Hrmmmm funny how that is, sometimes its hard to distinguish the victor from the victim... neither. it was just plain evil i mean.. come on! who woulda thought?! i bet you're really enjoying our shocked reactions and you'd better not get used to the idea of these "surprises" cuz my heart cant take it anymore! I dont think Jacob was intentionally trying to hurt Matt. That's my opinion anyway. You can see from the previous chapters that he cares a great deal for Matt. I'm just glad Val was able to put a stop to it, cuz i know that men will never be able to think properly once all the blood goes to the other head. Obviously, that kiss was only meant to divert Val's attention, only it didnt end up the way it was supposed to. Jacob was hurt, and maybe he just needed or wanted to know what it was like to feel 'cared for' again, and from the way Val kissed him back, it 'satisfied' his hunger temporarily. if that didnt make sense, blame steve! this chapter made me think too much, and it turned my brain into mush :wacko: im excitedly awaiting the next chapter, steve Blame me for making you think? honestly... Didn't you know? Steve owns stock in a heart-medication company, so these shocks are all part of his get-rich-quick scheme. HOW'D YOU KNOW!!!!! I don't know though, Jacob would have been hurt very badly by what Matt said. Who knows what is going through his (upper) head? Hmmmmm... Maybe Jacob is just using Val to get to his heart's true desire? I mean, what guy wouldn't fall for a cherry 1965 midnight blue Mustang convertible! Youve ruined the surprise twist ending!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Hmmm. I like the "Blame Steve" part!!! Hmmm, I had a clogged fuel filter this morning that I had to fix on the road, and it was a mess. I blame Steve! It's one of the few 'muscle' cars that would acctually love to own so in the spirit I gave it to Valerie. :wacko: I kind of detest her in that Barbie sorta way... Shhhh! Speaking of I glad ford acctually looked at what the car was and not what the hack designers of the late 70's- 80's did to it for the latest body style. Hurt flashed across Valerie's face shortly, an involuntary reaction from hearing the rumor spoken so blatantly, so viciously. In a single instant, she mustered all of her courage and fed it to the rage she felt towards these girls and the entire school. "It never came up when I was with Jacob last night," Valerie shrugged defiantly, ignoring her sense of self-preservation, screaming for her to not to say it. She had to however; she had to do something to dispel this thing before it got too bad. Uhoh!!! That sounds like it is going to come back to haunt her!! "I want him," he shouted up at her rebelliously. "Is that what you want to hear? Had to know if what they were saying was true?" he stood abruptly, staring at her directly. "Not all of it. Not yet." Whoa, Fireworks ahead!!!!! "You did! You used me to get into Matty's pants," she insisted. "Seriously Sweets, I don't need you to get into Matt's pants. I can manage that just fine with a flick of my wrist." "Swish you mean," she interrupted, a hiss of disdain lacing her voice. Jacob and Valerie both have lightning wits, and this part in particualr is very cleverly written. "You popped Matty?" she cried, almost laughing. Jacob shook his head as he too began to chuckle, "Shuddup'" I was really wondering how Valeie would take this revalation. I thoguht she would be jealous. I'm glad she's not. Ummm, if she's really not, that is. I also found this exchange absolutly hilarious! "I got caught somewhere doing something I really shouldn't have been doing," he sighed, not wanting to remember it, and realizing it would come out sooner or later. "Where were you?" she inquired, her interest piqued. "On my knees," he sighed with the memory. "In front of Cody Jameson." Her free hand jabbed him playfully in the side, causing him to jump a little in reaction. Her smile widened as she felt his grin on the back of her hand. "We were in the locker room of my old school. When Coach Baily, one of the football coaches, caught us." Ahhh! FINALLY we find out about the "incident" that prompted their move. I can certainly see why that would be embarrassing! "If you're so taken with Matt, why'd you let me..." "Because--" he answered cutting her off, "as you put it, I'm taken with you as well." Uhoh!!!!!!!!! This can only get... complicated! (understatement alert!). Jacob likes both Matt, and Valerie. This can only spell trouble. Poor Matt!!! The car rested, idling in the middle of the street, Valerie looking at him as if he'd just shot the president. Her eyes lingering in a place Jacob could not discern, owing to the fact that her sunglasses hid them easily. "We really need to get you some boxer briefs," she commented nonchalantly, her eyes turning to the road. Jacob stared at her blankly as the mustang began to move down the quiet street. "Boxers and those loose shorts have exactly nil hide factor babe," she glanced at him, and then obviously at his crotch. Jacob's gaze followed hers, to his crotch where he saw the obvious tent, his cheeks flushing pink, then quickly red. Valerie laughed heartedly and pressed the gas pedal to the floor. "You really need to do something about that before you get nabbed for indecent exposure." Jacob grabbed what little of an 'oh shit' handle the vintage car offered. "Oh I'm sure you'll take care of it long before I have a chance of getting nabbed, either that, or you'll just get arrested for reckless driving." Uhoh, again! This sounds like something is, ummm, building.... I love the teasing her about her driving, though! Val removed her hand from under the table and gave the woman a shy, caught smile, knowing completely well what she thought. Jacob wasn't as oblivious this time though, as he openly snuck two napkins out of the holder and moved them to his lap under the table. The woman just shook her head disgusted, and stalked off back to the kitchen. Valerie elbowed Jacob in the side as the woman stormed away, "Your so bad," she laughed. "Me? What about you Miss Innocent?" As the two were reaching for their second slice the waitress reappeared at the table and slammed down a bottle of cleaner and a rag. "You're cleanin' that seat off before you leave," she hissed, "Damn kids... everyday. What ever happened to driving somewhere?" she muttered to herself as she stalked away. Both Valerie and Jacob laughed quietly, and thirty minutes, and one cleaning job later, Valerie threw her keys at Jacob. Well, now we know what Jacob meant when he said he was sure Valerie would "take care of it"!! Their first time, and it is in public, in a diner?!?!?! "You didn't break his other arm did you?" he asked half-laughing.This is my favorite line so far!!! "Matt knows!" she yelled into the phone causing Jacob pulled his receiver away from his ear in an effort to save his eardrum. Poor Matt! And what a way to find out! I Hate that waitress! In Chapter one Jacob's Mom teases him about "which one are you looking at", which to me says she knows he is attracted to both males and females. His actions in this chapter and the last one sure seem to bear that out! So, he's attracted to both Matt and Valerie. Valerie is Matt's best freind. Clearly, Matt is not attracted to both males and females, otherwise something would have happened there long ago. Hmmm. So, I think Jacob will end up having to chose between Matt and Valerie, or maybe they will make the choice for him and nobody ends up together. Damn, this is REALLY complicated! Talk about a love triangle! ARGH!! My hunch is that Jacob and Matt don't get back together anytime soon, and in the interlude Jacob and Valerie become "serious" (if they haven't already, in that "diner incident". Great story, as always with you :-) Good point mEis: My thoughts on Richard are that sometimes, people just aren't deep. All too often in fiction a villain is explained as having had all sorts of things make him or her into what they are. But, in real life, I find that sometimes, people just are, whatever they are, be it nice, or (like Richard) scum. But is Matty supposed to be popular? Or a nerd? Or somewhere in between? he seems a bit timid, so I'm not sure. And I don't remember how his other friends are. Link to comment
