I can't add much to both of the comments above, other than to say the vast, wide-ranging scope of Blaise's abuse, spanning what now appears to be decades, makes one wonder just how he was able to abuse all those boys, without getting caught earlier...It would appear that "turning a blind eye" had to be a chronic, contagious condition. Good for Tom, he more than paid for his freedom... "She told me to think about my future, that she'd offer me a job contract if I wanted to stay. Then she fell off her chair." Dante could only blink. I find it ironic that I am concerned for Mistress Carolyn. This heart attack, coupled with her ongoing health issue, might hasten Brittany's ascent, and is Brittany in any sort of condition or frame of mind to take the reins? Is it possible that Brittany be passed over? "Heart attack. If I hadn't been standing by and if Val hadn't still been in the house, she probably would have died. She's here somewhere, in the same building even, if I'm not mistaken." For a moment Dante could only stare, then nodded weakly. "Three Mitchells in the hospital, one in chains, two about to collapse," he summarized. "Who's holding the scepter at home right now?" Blaise is probably safer where he is for the moment, unless he is incarcerated in the general population. Once word gets out...all bets are off... "Alice," replied Tom hesitantly. "She arranged for Blaise to be sent to Townsend prison. I'm almost inclined to say to protect him." Lastly, what of the 'relationship' between Alice and Dante? Will Alice see the truth in Dante's comments, understand the place they come from? Will they be able to reset their lives, understanding that the past is a place to occasionally visit, but can never go back to?

I wholeheartedly agree... -
Arlo’s got a plan…one hopes! Alright, I'll say it. Arlo, what kind of hare-brained scheme was that? Piss a dragon off by locking it OUTSIDE its lair, so it ca fly around with impunity and burn everything to the ground??

Louis will besiege Dover twice and fail. While the walls are partially breached in the first attempt, his forces are bloodied and he retires to London to rebuild his army. He fares no better in the second attempt while another part of his forces suffer defeat at the siege of another castle. The road behind his forces becomes even more fraught with peril Meanwhile King John’s health is failing him, as he wastes away as his body consumes itself. It’s ironic that the a-hole King John is, succumbs to dysentery. Wynthrope prepares and stands united in common purpose, ready to meet any assault.

Chapter Seven - Double Play.
drsawzall commented on William King's story chapter in Chapter Seven - Double Play.
Oh...what a tangled web is being woven... -
This peek at the future brought back some vivid memories of my dog Thunder, who was half German Sheppard/Labrador Retriever. I got Thunder when I was barely ten years old. And living way out in the back of farm country, he soon became my best friend. I can remember one winter afternoon, my younger cousins who were over for a visit, and I were out sledding on the hill up behind the house. We had just walked back up to the top after several runs when a pack of five dogs came out, snarling at us. We were terrified and needed to get down the hill. From somewhere behind us, Thunder shot off like a rocket and took on the pack leader; the rest is a blur, and in a few moments the pack was hightailing off the hill. I'm a dog person, always have been, never have I had a dog such as Thunder since, he'd walk out of the bedroom when I was in the altogether changing clothes, @weinerdog bite your tongue, let babies crawl over him, and the best friend a boy could ever have.

Loved defined... Finally Matt whispered, “We’ll build something new. Together. Away from all the noise. Away from the fear.” Kitt nodded, eyes closing against Matt’s shoulder. “Together.” “Please remember that this is your pace, not mine. I’ll follow you wherever you go.”

Part VII: The Forever Watch [Extra]
drsawzall commented on Cap's story chapter in Part VII: The Forever Watch [Extra]
Thank you for this. All I could ask for is a night of Mack and Mills having to babysit a pair of colicky twin boy hellions, for a night or three...it could be worse, girls instead of boys...or girls could be a second follow-up chapter. I hope at some point, we get a chance to look in on these folks again!!! Seriously, you captivated me from the start with this story, something I normally would simply glance at and move on. It is a testament to your skill as a writer and the excellence of your craft! -
No rest for the wicked...or the weary....at first you don't succeed...go in a back door...

As a young child, we would always go to my grandparents' for Saturday evening dinner. Once the meal was over, we all, with the exception of my grandmother, would go into the living room to watch TV while she was getting dessert ready. Invariably, Timmy would fall down the well, get lost in the woods, catch bank robbers, or get into some such danger... It would come to the point in the show where the danger was most intense, and little me couldn't bear to watch, where in the heck was Lassie? I would run out to the kitchen, where Grandma was frosting the cake she had been making. She would hand me the empty bowl of frosting and a rubber scraper and let me clean out the bowl. By the time I was done, Timmy was home safely, thanks to Lassie, and all was well with the world. Grandpa would always chuckle and comment, "Of course he was fine, he has to be on next week"!! I would pretend I didn't hear him, and Saturday night's frosting clean-up was always mine!!! The only downer...Lawrence Welk was coming up next.... BTW...great chapter!!! Now if only I had a bowl of frosting to clean up.....

They are truly on the road, Sam leaving a past life behind, and into an unknown world with Ser Graeme as his guide. Much will depend on Sam and how fast he adapts to trouble behind every corner, and those who will try to take advantage of him. And the adventure truly begins...
