I remember a few tall tales that were taught to me in school, this one was a favorite and it was a joy to "retell" it. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for commenting.

Whoa. I didn't remember that article I wrote until I looked at it and yep...its the one about the Slinky. -
Thank you. I think our men and women in uniform are true heroes, but so are the ones at home, thinking of them, praying for them and missing them. I'm glad you liked it, and thanks for commenting.

lets work together Topic Tuesday #19: Writing Tools

I am very big into the baby name websites. I find ones I like (I prefer traditional names over unusual ones) and I created a "name bank" for my male and female characters for when I get stuck. When I use one in a story, I cross it off so I know not to use that one again. I tripped up once and used the same name multiple times in one of my stories for different characters. I also like checking out the meaning behind names, alternate spellings, popularity, nick-names...I probably need a hobby or something. -
DREAD “If you die on me, I’ll never forgive you.” Gavin hated the words the minute they left his mouth, but it was too late to take them back. Aaron didn’t look up from where he was packing. “I’m not going to do this again with you,” he said. “You know I can’t control deployments.” “You promised once Reagan was born--“ “That I wouldn’t re-enlist, I know. Look, it’s just one more deployment. Then I’ll be done, I promise.” Gavin turned away in disgust, hoisting their daughter u

I just read it. I knew there was something going on with the copyright thing, but I only heard bits and pieces about it. -

lets work together Topic Tuesday #16: It's Raining (Gay) Men...

I hope she doesn't mind me saying this, but @Valkyrie has several heterosexual characters in her The Hollow Hills that are delightful. The two main characters are gay men, but there is one heterosexual couple that is extremely supportive and not at all antagonistic. -
lets work together Topic Tuesday #17: Supporting Each Other
CassieQ replied to Brayon's topic in Writer's Circle
I think most writers here at GA support other writers. I try to do the same. I don't read as much as I would like, but when I find something I like, I usually say something. A "like" is nice, but I think reviews or comments are more useful for a writer. Regarding this: People come and go here a lot. Some people like it here, and stay and share their work and their lives and build friendships. Some people have stuff come up in their day to day lives that keep them away from the site for a while. I look at some of the old anthologies that Myr posts in the blogs from time to time and I only recognize a few of the names. I look back at some of my old stories, and realize that I never hear from some of those readers again. I don't think it is a negative, I think it is a sign that GA is constantly evolving, and that old readers may leave, or not read/comment anymore, but I get new readers every time I post something new. -
Signature Authors were killing it this week!

Wow. Okay, so while (surprisingly) I don't want to yell at Josh this chapter, I wonder if he knows what he's getting into. I understand completely why Galen has to take sex off the table, but that's a lot of strain on a relationship, especially one that was initially built on sexual chemistry. I very much like the way Josh is treating Galen now, their relationship feels warmer and more genuine, so I have a lot of hope that this will work out for them. I am somewhat sad to hear that you'll be completing this story soon. I've gotten attached to these characters, they almost feel like family now. Excellent chapter!

lets work together Topic Tuesday #16: It's Raining (Gay) Men...
CassieQ replied to Brayon's topic in Writer's Circle
I'm a romance author who writes stories for a gay authors website. Of course there are going to be LGBTQ characters in my stories. I also tend to usually include a straight female character but they are almost always secondary. If I want to read a straight romance, there are plenty of them out there. Maybe if I wrote something of a different genre, I would worry about diversifying my cast, but for now I say "Let it rain!" -
I like it! Thank you!
