The 'wow' reaction was because of the fact that these are your first stories written with original characters. I thought these were both very well-written with great characterization. I would highly encourage you to write more. Maybe for the anthology? Carlos was a great supporter of GA's anthology. If Carlos read these, I'm willing to bet he would also be encouraging You can't edit stories that are in anthology categories. I can make the above edit for you, if you want me to.

A poignant letter to a friend gone too soon. Thank you for sharing and participating in the tribute.

Four Defiant Skyscrapers
Valkyrie commented on Parker Owens's story chapter in Four Defiant Skyscrapers
The power in these started at the beginning and continued to build to a perfect crescendo! These verses capture the spirit of Carlos perfectly! Well done, and thank you for sharing these with us- 23 comments

These are both great tributes that capture Carlos well! I especially like the last line - You should have known. That's Carlos... unapologetic and right to the point! Thank you for sharing and participating.

Yes, most definitely! I wish I had worked harder to make our schedules work

Thank you

I will face the door and try to be as close to it as possible so I can be one of the first off it. I don't mind talking to people on elevators and will usually at least smile and say 'hi'. If I was stuck in that situation the girls were in, I definitely would have panicked!

2024’s Ridiculous Resolutions
Valkyrie commented on Lee Wilson's story chapter in 2024’s Ridiculous Resolutions
That would be mine as well, although it would last all of ten seconds Thanks for participating, @Lee Wilson I think Carlos would have appreciated these! -
I think this was the perfect mix of northie and Carlos! I loved the twists and turns of the conversation and the challenge to assumptions. Writing dialogue only is not easy, yet this flowed smoothly with a clear sense of place and of the characters. Using the elevator as the setting was smart, although my claustrophobia is now triggered Getting stuck in an elevator is one of my worst nightmares, although I imagine being stuck with Carlos would take my mind off it pretty quickly! I think Carlos would have enjoyed this. Thank you for participating!

Carlos would have been a fascinating person to talk with over coffee. I imagine the conversation being intense, funny, infuriating, and never dull for a moment! Thank you for participating in the tribute!

A beautiful tribute to true friendship I remember you telling me about the day with Carlos, and I was so disappointed he couldn't join us the night before for burgers and cupcakes and mojitos. I imagine him and Wayne exchanging prompts and laughing together. Thank you for sharing this with us. I know it wasn't easy, but it's a true testament to the power of friendship and the force of nature that was Carlos.

Congratulations! You’ve been selected to attend the Ponies on the Beach Event in West Palm Beach, Florida! I squealed when I saw the email and did a little dance in my car, not caring if any of my neighbors saw. I screenshot the email and sent it to Nadia with the following message: Pack your bags, beeyotch! We’re heading to Florida! Seeing that email made my day. While I loved my job, I had a large workload and taking a few days off to head to the beach with one of my BFFs soun

A tale about a visit with a friend. This is part of the tribute to Carlos Hazday and dedicated to his memory.
-
January first has always been a day to look forward to for fans of Carlos Hazday. He always posted something new for readers to look forward on this day. While it hurts like hell knowing we will never have that privilege again, today we celebrate the man that was our friend, mentor, author, and site contributor. So, raise a toast in honor of Carlos (or flip off the sky - I think he would appreciate either sentiment!) and check out these 11 tributes in his memory. Long may you run, my friend. Your chrome heart always shone brightly in the Florida sun! Thank you to all who contributed to this tribute. It's clear how much Carlos meant to our community, and how much he is missed. Please take the time to react, comment, and/or review these tributes. I would also like to thank @Cia @Myr and @wildone for their behind-the-scenes support. Cia created the awesome banner used for the tribute stories.

liverwurst - Word of the Day - Sat Dec 30, 2023
Valkyrie commented on Myr's blog entry in Writing World
My grandpa used to love liverwurst sandwiches. I haven't had one since I was a kid, but I do remember liking them. -
New Year's Resolutions - love them or hate them? Some people thrive on resolutions and use them to make changes in their lives, at least for January Others scoff at the idea and remain their fabulous selves without some arbitrary date telling them it's time to effect positive change. Since New Year's is right around the corner, let's explore some resolutions! PT Prompt #191: You've always been steadfastly against making any resolutions come January first and have treated it just like any other day. This year, however, you've created a list containing two resolutions. What are they, and what changed your mind? PT Prompt #192: Write two different sets of resolutions set 100 years apart, either past or future. Please include the prompt number either in your story/chapter description or title to help readers who would like to search for specific prompts. Also, please remember that stories less than one thousand words must be posted as part of a collection If you check the subgenre 'prompt' in your story tags, then people/readers can find everything here: https://gayauthors.org/stories/browse/subgenre/prompt/
