    Another great chapter I'm also wondering if Jack recognized him and what the repercussions might be. We knew Jack probably wouldn't react well, but damn... Refusing to pay Travis is pretty low. You have me thinking about Jack's motivation. Does he really have feelings for Travis or is it more of a control thing? Ben was brave to diffuse the situation they way he did. The next chapter should prove pretty interesting.

    Everybody has their own system and what works for one, doesn't work for another. Don't worry about what anyone else does; just do what works for you. You are a good writer, so whatever you've been doing is working (and I don't say that lightly). I very rarely plot things out. I'll write a basic outline, or some notes about where I want the story to go, but for the most part I just sit down and write. Sometimes it flows smoothly, but the majority of time I need prodding as well. lol I have attention issues, so that doesn't help. Oh look... something shiny!

    Yikes! Glad that you're ok and that you found your cards. Hopefully that cop was just having a bad day. Nothing like adding stress to an already stressful situation.

    Like quite a few people have already said, doctors are frequently wrong. I admire you so much. Even though I don't know you well, what I have seen is a strong, intelligent, sweetheart of a man who hasn't let adversity win. The world would be a much better place with more people like you in it. We are all here for you in whatever capacity you need... so vent, post or not your writing, but don't stop writing. It's in your blood and a great outlet. Even if you never share what you write now, it may be what you need to get through this. At any rate, lots of from me. Prove them wrong. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

    Great poem, Mac. It's a horrible feeling when you realize that your partner doesn't have the same vision of your relationship as you do. I loved the line: In my own ignorance, I couldn’t see that he was never going to be the savior of my delusion. There's hope at the beginning of the last two lines, though. "For a while..." I hope those sunsets hold color and promise again.

    It's lovely, tim. Animals are such a special part of life. You could sub cats, horses, or whatever furkid in your poem. It's a universal sentiment. I miss my cats that have passed so much.

    I loved this chapter. Both men are showing their vulnerability, especially Travis. I loved the line about his eyes visibly writhing. He's fallen hard for Ben and it's nice how you show it with the tears and the sunrise date. Sunrise/sunset in the west is very different than it is in the east. It's so much more vibrant. I lived in Arizona for a short while and when I drove home from work there were many times I'd have to pull over to the side of the road and watch the sunset because it was so beautiful. I almost cheered when Ben said he'd stay. I can't wait for more. Well done, Mac.

    Great chapter! I completely relate to Ryan's stress about academia. I had a lot of difficulty handling the stress of completing my masters degree. I was encouraged to go on for a doctorate, but didn't think I could handle it. I don't regret my decision, since I'm perfectly happy being a clinician vs. a researcher. I get the feeling that there's more to Ryan's story, though. I'm glad he finally allowed himself to open up to Erik a bit. I think Erik's solution is a good one, but I also think that Ryan will still experience the same emotions. Hopefully he'll be able to handle them better. I look forward to more!

    I recently played a couple of games that I thought had a great storyline. Adam Wolfe Flames of TIme and Adam Wolfe Blood of Eternity. They are comprised of two 'acts' each and each act builds off the previous one. I didn't think the puzzles were particularly challenging, but I liked the interactive nature of the gameplay and enjoyed the story.

    Vivid, disturbing imagery, yet so much is conveyed in very few words. I find myself wanting to know more about the relationship, characters, and the world they inhabit. But then again, I always want more when you write short stories. lol

    I have no doubt there's clever mathematic principles involved, but there's a reason I went into a language-based field...lol Based on our recent discussion of Fibonacci, I'm going to guess there's something related to the syllable count of the first poem. But now that I see your response to Al's review it must have to do with the shape, since the poem is written as a triangle. No clue on the second one. I associate ENTs with knowing anatomy and physiology...no idea on mathematic formulae that may be used by them.

    I am massively behind in my reading, but did manage to read The Pledge at the beginning of the month. I enjoyed it and definitely got the Anne Rice feel from it. It's a very large story in short story form. While I found some of the time jumps a bit jarring, overall I got the gist of the story. I thought the ending was very powerful and brought tears to my eyes. I've enjoyed everything of tim's that I've read so far, and his stories are on my 'to read' list. As has been mentioned already he's a great poet who conveys raw emotion into his poetry very well. My question would be: when did you feel the urge to start writing? Was it as a youth or did it happen later in life? Great interview
