Prompt 318 I’ve wanted to do that since … forever.
Robert Rex commented on Timothy M.'s story chapter in Prompt 318 I’ve wanted to do that since … forever.
Nicely done! Great dialogue (loved the gentle kidding of his friends!) and loved Rob for standing up and taking charge of the bully. Your typical solidly consistent good writing! -
GREAT job! Here's hoping Ezra gets the break with the research assignment that the counselor hopes! And after reading the more overt bullying going on, I'm ready to join the counselor in kicking ass. Great job in bring that kind of emotion out in your readers! And now you're being a tease--waiting for chapter 5? Geez.....oh, well, bring it on! Again, GREAT job!

VERY nicely done! So many conflicting emotions--the horror at the murder of the young woman; the guilt Dimitri has at his helplessness at stopping the murder; the helplessness of Dimitri in seeing a way out of this mess; the uncertainty of Talin, and the futility of Dimitri in keeping his business life separate from his personal life with Talin. (Remarkable how many of these nasty feelings are on Dimitri--no wonder he's pounding the shit out of sandbags, and not sleeping!) Is Dimitri in law enforcement? Or just in over his head in the "family business". Is it really Lucian trying to keep them apart? Or Dimitri's sister trying to scare Talin away? (I'm convinced she knows far more than has been shown at this point.) Or is it Dimitri's brother, who's gradually putting the pieces together, but instinctively knows the try to keep Talin clear of it all? Perhaps best of all, Talin isn't afraid to dive into the relationship--willing to take both the bad and the good of Dimitri's life. This is getting good! You did a fine job here--can't wait for the next one!

Robert Rex commented on Robert Rex's story chapter in "After I'm Done, I'm Gonna Be a Dead Man. Deal?"
Nah, Mike ... you aren't late to the party--you're here in time to not have to wait for story background (who wants to wait between chapters?!?!?), zip through the story, and get even with the rest of us! Glad you've enjoyed the first chapter, hope the rest of the story keeps you intrigued! Definitely let me know what you think! Thanks for joining in--look forward to hearing more from you! -
Lots of Secrets in This Bar
Robert Rex commented on Robert Rex's story chapter in Lots of Secrets in This Bar
Glad you liked the scene with them getting signals crossed about living together! I thought it was funny--plus we find out that Dave is really a "Bubba" at heart! I don't think there's a problem between Dave and Barry; since the bar is something of a cover operation for the FBI, and Barry's going to be watching/listening for details, it may not be safe to reveal that his partner is with the Bureau--and Dave picked up on that, and worked around it. It may be a case, too, that'll they'll carefully reveal their relationship to select people, and still keep the Bureau's involvement in the bar out of it--Dave has already set that up with the line he's an "analyst for the government". (Makes him sound ilke an accounting type, right?) Of course, if Chuck had made a pass, or more--well, that's just another secret in the bar at this point, isn't it? Thanks for staying with the story, and the comments! Think you'll find lots more ahead! -
Lots of Secrets in This Bar
Robert Rex commented on Robert Rex's story chapter in Lots of Secrets in This Bar
Thanks, RJ! Joe and Rex are interesting guys, and hope they'll fit well into the story. Each of them brings out a perspective (and has a history) that may make a difference in the telling of future chapters.Glad ya liked the bar's description--that's a great compliment! I've never enjoyed getting buried in details about a place, when for me, it's the people making the story! Glad you enjoyed the chapter--thanks for the comments! -
Lots of Secrets in This Bar
Robert Rex commented on Robert Rex's story chapter in Lots of Secrets in This Bar
Thanks, Dathi! This chapter, while not filled with action and excitement like other chapters, does provide a lot of information you'll see in the future.I"m hoping you'll enjoy the upcoming chapters, too! Thanks for the kind words! -
Lots of Secrets in This Bar
Robert Rex commented on Robert Rex's story chapter in Lots of Secrets in This Bar
Gary, Joe and Rex were to good a couple--and to good as characters--to leave 'em behind in just one story. I'm loving the natural give and take in Dave and Barry's relationship--they're now comfortable with solid kidding of each other (no walking on eggshells in this relationship!), and both have learned to "play well" off each other. In fact, they find it comical when they mis-read each other. ("What? Me move in?" "Of course, you big lug"You're right; Barry is a natural at noticing lots of details others miss. That'll serve him well. And Rex's spidey sense has a remarkable way of foretelling the future, doesn't it? Thanks for the comments and review. -
Lots of Secrets in This Bar
Robert Rex commented on Robert Rex's story chapter in Lots of Secrets in This Bar
Cole, I'm wondering just how far Barry will go in revealing his ownership of the bar--and his personal life background as well. Rex's recognition that he's "a man with lots of secrets" makes me wonder if he's picked up on the confusion/uncertainty of Barry's life. And, if Barry is going to be effective as a Bureau informant, he really can't reveal too much--can he?Thanks for the comments! -
Another typically great story you've created! Loving the characters, great plot development--including an omminous (sp?) situation with a sadly bitter dad, a young man still entrapped by the moon, and the merboy's lack of social skills to know how to deal with other humans. Solid writing here--just drags my ass into the story--and I'm loving it, just like the rest of the stories! Look forward to the next chapter!

Nicely done chapter--the feeling of being assimilated into the collective mind of the Furballs was well done! And the abolute two-faced approach of the government to authorize learning about the Furballs via dangerous interrogation and simultaneously attacking is more than frustrating. (Or was the attack done by a rogue element in the military?) Regardless, you did a GREAT job here! Looking forward to the next chapter!

Yup, there ARE lots of secrets...and remarkable, too, that Rex's "spider sense" tells him that much about Barry. There's gonna be lots of secrets exposed ahead....great ready! Thanks for the comments and kind words! -
Chapter 3 Strangers In The Night
Robert Rex commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 3 Strangers In The Night
Tough strong men with tough strong feelings--and a comfort in being in their own skins that only life experience can bring. You've done a great job with the characters and their emotional paths. And yeah, when it all comes together, it's a force of nature. Now, forward---the next chapter awaits! <grin> -
Columbus Guy is right--definately a soul-searching chapter. I'm really waiting for Steven's confession. THAT will be something--if it happens. (Columbus, you're reading my mind!) Really like the way that Joey and his buddy have at least accepted all of this--and I'm thinking their role in Steven's "outing" may be bigger than anticipated! Good job--solid writing, and interesting characters, natural dialogue, with lots of potential plot twists ahead. Bring on that next chapter! <grin>

Nice to see Damien come to the realization that he's just a teenager--he's been put into a position where he no other choice but be an adult. And, now that his father has been dragged into this, who knows what direction the story can go? Masterful job of keeping up the tension--and the interest! Now, where's that next chapter? <grin>

The Citation X threw itself into the arms of a clear blue sky with lustful speed. In moments, the turquoise blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico provided the landscape, only color differences in the water and a few offshore drilling platforms near the horizon breaking the wide-open blue sky. While waiting for us to level out, finally looked up what a Citation X is on Dave's iPad. Made by Cessna, it's a so-called “mid-sized” jet in a field from lightweights designed to be flown by owners to large i

Nicely done! The blurred emotions aspect is intriguing--he both likes Jim and dislikes him. And throwing in the "drugged" issue is brilliant! Looking forward to the next chapter! You did well here!
-
Nicely done chapter! And love that the plot twist you threw in with the redhead has everyone guessing his role. And love that CJ has someone close to his own age, but for some reason, think he's not as "straight" as a appears. Usual great job of character development, plot continuity, and rock solid writing--bring on the next chapter!

Loving this story--great characters, interesting premise, and your usual great job of solid, moving writing! Can't wait for the next chapter!

Auburn Ski Camp: Introductions
Robert Rex commented on MrM's story chapter in Auburn Ski Camp: Introductions
Nicely done chapter! I haven't decide how much I like either of these characters yet. Both are obviously intelligent, strong men. But both have egos and attitudes that make me wanna paddle their asses to become a little more human, and a little less self-absorbed. (And yeah, it's a compliment to your writing that you can portray/invoke those sometimes conflicting attitudes--as well as that level of uncertainty about the characters!) You did well here; really looking forward to your next chapter--bring it on! -
I'm with LitLover on this--Galen needs a little self control, as does Josh. One of 'em needs to pull back, and realize "the big picture" of all this. Galen, with the most recent hurt, stands the most to lose here...he's got an especially tender heart right now. I'm figuring the "Roger Resolution" will bring LOTS of things to a head. And think there's another romance in the making/underway that the Roger Resolution will have an impact on, too---our gracious hostess and Galen's cousin. Loving the story line, good job writing--and definately looking forward to the next chapter!
