My Laptop Loves Breaking Down
ancientrichard commented on Drew Espinosa's blog entry in Drew's Slice of Pi
I have an Aspire laptop. Sometimes it refuses to boot, but I can get it going by running the battery down. Leave it switched on but not connected to power. When the battery is completely discharged and all the lights go out, reconnect it to power and restart it. I recommend regular backing up of everything important. External hard drives are quite cheap now. I also keep a memory stick permanently plugged into a USB port, and anything very important that I create is duplicated there. OTOH you've had that machine for several years now and had quite a lot of trouble with it, so it may be time to take Northie's advice and get a new one. -
I suspect he said 'girl nails' because most of the pretty nails he's seen belong to girls. If you say 'no yours are boy nails' he may see it as a word game in which you say 'boy nails' and he replies 'girl nails' . I shouldn't make an issue of it. Society has evolved strange and often irritating customs about how males and females ought to behave. When I was a little boy I played with girls more than boys, and was very frustrated that I was never allowed to play in the Wendy House. I still feel a little resentment about that.

Politics And British Columbia, And Where I Fit In
ancientrichard commented on Hunter Thomson's blog entry in Hunter Thomson's Blog
Thank you for that. It was most interesting. I remember that, many years ago, we used to hear about the Social Credit Party, but I was never sure what it stood for. Was it influenced by the 'Georgists' who advocated Land Value Taxation? I hope you win your election. I wonder how many other people on this forum seek elected office. It would be interesting to hear from them. -
Thank you for that. Before reading it I didn't know what a phased array was.

Sneak Peak - Satan's Little Buddy
ancientrichard commented on LillyLee's blog entry in We're all mad here
I think I'll enjoy that story. Lots of people I dislike are very rude abut Satan, so he and I may have something in common :-) -
I'm reluctant to make unfavourable comments, partly in case it discourages the writer from continuing but mainly because it seems ungrateful when someone has given us a story free. However I can see that constructive comments may help a writer.

Flaming Assholes Of The Internets!
ancientrichard commented on JamesSavik's blog entry in jamessavik's Blog
I call such people Zealots. Most of the time I ignore them. When I do comment, I usually address my remarks to any rational people who may be around, doubting my ability to make any impression on a Zealot. As an accomplished writer, you have another option. You can put them in a story and make sure they come to an undignified end :-) -
The Legend of Treehaven Woods
ancientrichard commented on Valkyrie's story chapter in The Legend of Treehaven Woods
An exciting story. I'd like to read more about those characters. -
Enjoy yourself, but don't throw away everything in that suitcase. I'm sure there's a lot of good stuff there.

As Falling Apart Comes To A Close... Here's Where I Am...
ancientrichard commented on craftingmom's blog entry in Craftingmom's Blog
Thank you very much for 'falling Apart' . I enjoyed it very much. I enjoy everything you write. I too would love some more Neko. Now Kaden has gained confidence it might be time for him to take a lead in rescuing another abused soul. -
Week Eight Wednesday, October 22, 2014: Getting Dumped

I think Vladimir Putin was an inspired choice for someone to deal with the horrid Rev. Will David find it hard to get the polonium ? :-)) -
It sounds as though you need a rest, You've written a great deal in the last year or two, all of it excellent, so it may be time to have a break.

My Weird Nightmares Are Potential Plots: Benefits Of Being Bat Shit Krazy
ancientrichard commented on JamesSavik's blog entry in jamessavik's Blog
That looks very promising. Compared with yours, my nightmares are very dull, like being in a railway station, but unable to find the trains -
Powell's Books looks wonderful. There aren't any impressive bookshops near to me, so I'm envious. Enjoy the statistics :-)

The Oxford English Dictionary gives the first recorded us of the word as occurring in a street name: 'Grope Cunt Lane' but in my experience it is usually used as a swear word, though occasionally heterosexual men use the word to refer to the relevant part of the female anatomy. It is one of the words it is unwise to use in the hearing of people one doesn't know well, which suggests not using it in a semi-public forum such as most parts of this site.

So, What Have I Learned About Relationships?
ancientrichard commented on W_L's blog entry in Life is worth an entry
I agree with you. Someone who'll cheat in one relationship is likely to cheat in others. He may have got a thrill out of having a relationship his wife didn't know about. If you'd allowed the relationship to continue you'd have just been his guilty secret. -
I think chatting to people in the grocery is a wonderful idea. I often exchange a few words with people I meet out and about in the town and the shops and they usually respond. Bus stops are also good places for a chat. I've got to know some people quite well because we were often at the bus stop at the same time. Putting a smile on your face also helps; people often smile back and that cheers everyone a little bit. If you ever find yourself in Leicestershire let me know so we can cheer up the population together.

Goodbye Rambo

I'm very sorry to hear that, and hope your recover quickly. Are there any analgesic ointments that you could apply, to relieve the pain without your having to put anything in your bloodstream? -
New Things Are Coming
ancientrichard commented on CassieQ's blog entry in CassieQ's Fractured Thoughts
That sounds like good news. I love your stories, so I'm delighted to hear that another is on the way. -
I'm sorry you've been having a rough time. Don't force yourself to write something to please hypothetical readers, just write what you are inspired to. I've never been disappointed by anything you have written.
