    Loop

Parker Owens commented on c081huang's story chapter in Loop

I really relate to this - many times I have felt stuck in an endless cycle of hours and days without change or progression. You paint this picture very well.

My own mom passed just a couple of years ago, and the memories are still fresh. And like you, I still sometimes feel the flicker in the heart and know she’s there. Such a lovely poem. Thank you for posting it.

    Chapter Twenty-Six

Parker Owens commented on Ethan's story chapter in Chapter Twenty-Six

I think Jordan is more in the right of this. Even so, the prospect of losing one’s family can’t be minimized. Jordan risks doing that; Noah is paralyzed by it. But Noah risks losing Jordan - and his very self - by retreating into fear. Incidentally, I’m completely floored by Noah’s mom. What year does she think this is? Is John Diefenbaker still Prime Minister of Canada? Need another, sweeter chapter soon, please...

I will add my voice to @Valkyrie‘s in care and support. You have every reason to be frustrated, and I’m okay with listening. Nothing you’ve said seems out of line to me. If a long distance hug would help you rest, I offer you one of mine.

What a grand poem; thank you for taking me along with you on your walk in the snow. I loved what you made me see and sense and hear. Crushed diamonds is very apt, and the air is indeed charged especially in the deep cold.

I felt a thrill of excitement reading this. Well done! And the moon was fantastic, wasn’t it?

    Bliss

Parker Owens commented on CassieQ's story chapter in Bliss

This was such a sweet tale. Thank you for bringing us Bliss.

With the plummeting temperatures, I hope these birds will have found some warm place to weather the storms. They were an incredible surprise, capping off a lovely hike. And I’m glad you liked the terriers at play, too. They’re such fun to watch. Thank you for reading these!

Thank you for reading these, and for taking the time to look up bluebirds. Usually, we think of them as summer residents, but there they were flitting about the scrub and low trees. Tanka are fun to write; such concentration of emotion and image.

I enjoyed your poetic story of loves found and faded. I hope you write more poetry and post it here. tim mentioned Live Poets and Zero to Hero; I’ll heartily second his suggestions. Great poem! More, please?

The trip to the cottage was surely something special. So much got said that needed to be aired, and you set up important future action. Really good. And then we get to anticipate Noah’s mom visiting. Noah could use this opportunity to seize the initiative and the high ground and come out. Just don’t back her into a corner, Noah...

Thanks for coming along on the hike. I’m glad you enjoyed the experiences and sights of the park.

You are indelible, permanent, written on the face of the earth in bright multicolored ink; I am humbled and grateful for your voice.

Thank you, Gary! I hope it felt as if you had come along with me.

Your words are very kind. The bluebirds - there were five - puffed up in buff and iridescent blue against the cold. I was astonished to see them, but there was no mistake. Their appearance capped an extraordinary afternoon. I enjoy Tanka, though I had to get used to their inherent rhythm as I wrote scribble after scribble.

How unexpected that a chilly January day should yield so much in an afternoon. Hope your own walk is as full of delights for the senses.
  17. Parker Owens
Thank you, tim! And all in one long afternoon hike. It was a memorable day.
  18. Parker Owens
Thank you for reading these. Funny how hard it can be to give a full picture of January in five lines.

Wish I could send you some hot chocolate. Or a hot chocolatier.

Thank you! I'm so glad you could see what I saw, and feel what I experienced. Stay warm!

    Meeting Max

Parker Owens commented on Mikiesboy's story chapter in Meeting Max

Among the many things to like in this chapter is the honest, forthright approach Louis takes to Max and to the situation. He faces his own misgivings not by papering them over, but by working them out in his own mind with the help and insight of another patient. The encounter with Max is not laden with false hope or put-on pity; what we get is a story with reality. Yet that reality also appears to have a few rays of sunshine - Max smiles, and considers something outside the walls of his current prison. Louis is right to be concerned about the care he and Don will be called upon to give. It will be significant, and Louis is just as honest about that as everything else. Yet Don is drawn to Max's need, and that's significant, too. Fantastic chapter.

A Winter's Hike I dress in dark clothes, thick and grey like storm warnings; barometric signs in flannel and fine knit wool foretelling doomsday blizzards. I pass dogs at play, Terriers dressed in plaid coats, Labs with clouded breath; and my cold legs yearn like theirs to thrill in mud-spattered joy. Clear ice on green grass strong enough to hold my weight makes my steps falter in wonder and gratitude for an open path ahead. Snowy ridges roll

    Tanka

Parker Owens commented on Mikiesboy's story chapter in Tanka

I love your five Tanka. They fit the season perfectly, with Cardinals and Carols, snowflakes and grey felted skies. You bring me into the heart, too, with hope and reflection and giggles, too.

    Chapter 23

Parker Owens commented on Ronyx's story chapter in Chapter 23

So Jon became human after all. That’s something crucial. The father hasn’t, and may not ever do so if they never truly talk things out. Woody is sorry and regrets his online adventures, but Dad can’t bring himself to recognize what’s real and good in his second son. That is very, very sad. Connor’s coming out seems to have made an immense difference both to Woody and to Jon. This is a great story, and you wrapped it up well.
