  1. So, something about the prophecy that still doesn't add up to me.... Maryann reasons that she's the "rightful heir" since she is the last queen still standing. However, there isn't anything in the prophecy, as it is translated, to indicate this. This may be why Colt wanted to learn Sanskrit. I think it boils down to that last sentence and the whole pronoun-antecedent clusterfuck. We assume that the first "he" refers to the "boy" who leads the army of strength, but the second "he" is kinda wonky. Who is "he" and what is "his rightful place"? At any rate, I'm still interested in the different factions within this world. We know what the purpose behind the wolves and vampires, but what of the Owls and the council that Betsy answers to? In another prompt, we see "a boy" of prophecy who dies shortly before WWII, which means "every li generations" is quite frequent. I imagine this could cause a lot of chaos if every one of those boys is allowed to fulfill his destiny (en masse deaths of both vampires and wolves would create significant human casualties as well). So, are the Owls meant to keep the balance between shifters and vampires, perhaps even allowing the boy to either die or prevent him from reaching full power?

    Chapter 32

I don't think this is an abridged recovery. As he progresses, Kye should have advances and setbacks. As much as he is honored for his actions, it was a setback in his sense of self-worth (or demonstrates that it has not recovered as others had believed). There's still much for Kye to learn.

    Loz

Something about Loz struck me when I read the first chapter months back, which surprised me when you revealed what you intended for the character. Loz isn't a bad kid. Characters like Jason, Aziz and Alec intentionally hurt Daniel because their assholes, but I don't see the same motivations in Loz. I can sympathize with his conflict with realizing that he is gay, while growing up in a household that it violently opposed to people like him. The need to be himself (though consciously suppressed) clashes with the fear of being discovered, which manifests in his actions against Daniel. The reader can fault him with forcing himself on Daniel and ignoring his boundaries, but he's hurting just as much. I hope there is room for redemption; Loz deserves it.
  4. Decided to take a little break from writing stories: https://www.gayauthors.org/forums/blog/643/entry-16418-the-done-list/
  5. The Done List The latest attempt at hacking my own mind,A journal,Covered in coffee stains(Okay, the first spill was my own fault, but the cat did the rest), [*]Chronicling my daily accomplishments. [*]A list Of everything I've done that dayOtherwise, I wouldn't get out of bed. [*]A nod to my psychiatrist(You need to listen to your inner child; be your own mommy.), [*]to my psychologist (Don't should all over yourself), [*]to my physiotherapist (You have to be consistent.), [*]to my husband (Did you write today, babe?). [*]I trick myself into feeling more accomplished than I really am. With doing things just so I can write them down, With itemized entries, With words that make my small act appear to be more. [*]And so, I write Today I Woke up before noon, Had something other than coffee for breakfast, Took all my meds, Put on real clothes (and wore them all day), Left the house, Did this one stretch, Cleaned something, Cleaned something else, Finished something I started, Started something new, Wrote some words on paper, Felt compelled to something productive, Dreamt about being something more, Got lost in all the things I'm still not accomplishing, Made promises to try tomorrow.
  6. I thought Jacko had a crush on Simon. There crush on the Summers boys was one of their common interests.
  7. So, David tells Twoey not to let him plan anything. You know what this means? He's totes off the hook for weddings, vacations, budgets, major purchases... I should totally tell my husband that if only to get out of deciding where and/or what to eat for dinner. **writes self a note** I'm glad that Twoey and David were open with each other about their previous sexual experiences. I don't think they realize it, but having experienced sex without love (or consent) will help them appreciate what they have together. In a way David did join Danny--both are now the only two Twoey boyfriends we approve of.
  8. (pats hohochan's head) There, there. Wolfie's coming.
  9. Elaine remains hopeful because Cory dated lots of girls before college, and he still says he's bi. There's a chance that his relationship with Efrain won't work out, and he'll return to be being straight. Who knows how she would react if Cory was gay, or didn't have a history with girls. Who know how she would react if Cory's relationship with Efrain looks like it will be more permanent. Interesting that you noticed a potential difference between the Card and Frederick families. Perhaps there may be multiple boots to apply to Connor Sr's backside!
  10. Cory is a sweetheart, but don't let the nice guy thing blind you. He has claws and isn't afraid to use them. Under normal circumstances, Cory wouldn't use them on his old man, though, but having your back against the wall will do that to a person.
  11. I wouldn't say "politically correct", a man like that will go out of his way to avoid political correctness. If Cory thinks back on it, he might even realize this. Now all we need to do is get Efrain on the scene! Don't worry, I'm on it.
  12. People like Elaine and Connor, Sr. may never see the light, no matter how much their ignorance hurts them. Lobo is on his way to rescue his gatito!
  13. Hopefully, Cory recognizes he has a much larger family in Virginia. He needs all the help he can get!
  14. I was raised by a few of these southern ladies, and lived among them for years. It is alarming that Cory so completely misread his parents. Which means something else was at work here. Having one's own secrets certainly contributed to Efrain misunderstanding his family, and that could be the same thing at work here, or it could be something else entirely, but we won't know until someone who knows better steps in.
  15. Cory tends to be the kind of person who falls apart rather than the one who blows up. But, he had a lot of energy (nervousness, excitement, etc)built up and it had to go somewhere when everything went sideways.
  16. Wild Card - : a person or thing that could affect a situation in a way that cannot be predicted : an unknown or unpredictable factor His brothers might be able to shed some light on their family, just as soon as Cory talks to them...
  17. Sleeping beauty awaiting his prince charming? Also, it was intensely gratifying to write about a homophobe getting his nose rubbed in his own shit.
  18. Ah, yes....the phone........
  19. The other sad part is that Efrain, Preston, and Indie's experiences (their parents being okay with their sexuality) is rare enough that too few people can count on it. Lets hope your right about Efrain and the Card brothers.
  20. AC gave me the idea to repost this as a poem... "Nightmare", or "Do White Girls Dream of Pumpkin Spice Sheep?" Yard sale hopping with my mom (Who looks at everything, but buys nothing); Followed by sitting at a table full of white girls raving about how much we L-O-V-E our pumpkin spice lattes (That have fuckall for pumpkin in them); Followed by accidentally buying a bus ticket (instead of a plane ticket) to visit my brother; Followed by spending the whole week on a Greyhound bus, touring every last banjo-dueling town in the continental US with a fat, sweaty bear (Neither of us get to shower).
  21. ....Had to go back and read "Date" and still trying to figure that one out. Dammit.
  22. You know, if they woulda had "clandestine" on their vocab lists when they were younger, I'm pretty sure they would have used it. Were you looking at my notes?
  23. Cory and Cameron never really talked about the incident except for a brief "so, that happened" kinda thing. Since Cam didn't have a meltdown, Cory assumed he was okay.
  24. Chapter One—String from Your Tether Unwinds There was a time when I thought Texas in winter was cold. Cold enough to wish for those triple-digit summers. Hell, there was that one snowstorm a few years back when we got like a whole inch of snow overnight, and they had to close down all the schools. And, then there was the “graupel” thing more recently that looked like someone had thrown bean bag stuffing all over the place. I remember layering hoodies under my warmest jacket and wearing my
