  7. well done. i can barely add and subtract. when trying to add 2+2, i often get 5. that being said, i may not understand the math, but i can feel the imagery. you also brought forth memories of the hot math teacher who would say those words. never understood them but his voice....just wow

    Thankfully

We, as humans, find it easy to find reasons to complain and criticize. It takes more effort to find reasons to be thankful. I’m thankful for all the normal things people talk about like a place to live. Food to eat. I’m Thankful for all my friends. The past friends, who come back into my life. New friends, who I haven’t met yet. Present friends, who keep me sane. Friends in “real” life, and those I only know through the internet. And I’m thankful for the friends I’ve lost. The ones who died and those who just left. They have brought me joy while they were a part of my life. All are like dolphins in my sea of life. But I am, also thankful for what is normally not something to be thankful for. like, muscles that scream in agony for days after PT, because it means they are still alive and may work again. Rain on a Friday afternoon; more water for the coming fire season. For insomnia. A chance to meet people I wouldn’t have other wise. I’m grateful for people who are different from me. A chance to understand another point of view. At the end of the day I have tried to behave in such a way as to bring a smile to everyone I’ve met. If I have any regrets, its that I’ve failed, at this and hurt someone along the way. I never meant to. moggy

    Sticks

I’m Handing out Sticks Depression has been beating you up for years. It’s called you ugly, and stupid, and pathetic, and a failure, for so long that you’ve forgotten that it’s wrong. You don’t see good in yourself, and you don’t have any hope. Your thinking about suicide, you have a plan; you just need a reason not to do it. But you’ve come over to me, and said, “HEY! Staying alive is REALLY HARD right now! Just give me something to fight with! I don’t care if it’s a stick! Give me a stick and I can stay alive!” Is that helplessness? No, I think that’s incredible. You’re like the marine that’s been trapped for years behind enemy lines, your gun has been taken away, you’re out of ammo, you’re malnourished, and you’ve probably caught some kind of jungle virus that’s making you hallucinate giant spiders. But you tell me “Give me a stick! I’m not dying out here!” “A cry for help” Makes it sound like I’m supposed to take pity on you. But you don’t need my pity. This isn’t pathetic. This is the will to survive. With NO hope, running on NOTHING, you’re ready to cut through a hundred miles of hostile jungle with nothing but a stick, if that’s what it takes to get to safety. All I’m doing is handing out sticks. You’re the one staying alive. I saw this on a therapist wall and wrote down so I could remember in troubled times that I knew would plague me. I'm running out of sticks.
