Great advice, and as someone experiencing Writer's Block right now... this article was helpful.
-
This was some good advice on using tone, and words in writing sex scenes, and how it can make a story or break one.
-
Great advice. I've had a few scenes, in my stories, and I feel I always have messed them up someone how. I've toyed with the Idea of the 'Fade to Black' way of handling sex in a story.

Those are some good articles. Just read Comicality's The Unknown Audience. -
Excellent article, and one that I feel should be read by everybody.

Great article, and should be a must read!

I think I will go dance a jig right now... SCORE!!! *coughs* Yeah, I'm totally fanboying. Shovelface does redeem himself. In his latest movie, he refused to give a dog a handjob, so that's redemption in my book. Very true. This was something I always felt, not only with your stories, but any work that involves Psionics, Magic, and other supernatural abilities. It's easier to train a kid in how to use such powers, because they have no preconceived notions in how they can/can't work. At least in my opinion. If they develop as a latent, and coming on years later, it's one thing, but showing signs as a kid, yeah they need help. Like the kid in the Fantastic Beasts, and Where to Find Them movie. So suppressed in magic, he turned into a monster and killed people. -
My initial reaction is to say, either rewrite it for a different city or delay posting it to the forums. However, I know some Texans who would chastise me for even thinking about rewriting or delaying it, because of the disaster. If you delay, is it going to through off the story, or timing of other projects?

It did for the Real Life people this story is based on. The characters will be back in a future story but will be 100% fiction on that one.

On the subject of Twilight... 1. Vampires DO NOT SPARKLE!!! EVER!!!! 2. She admits it was basically a masturbation fantasy. 3. The Gay Porn Spoof, Twinklight, was a much better production. I don't know how the movies made money. -
Lately, I've been experiencing a nasty case of Writer's Block, concerning my main project, and my anthology project. I sit down with the laptop, start to write in my comfy zone, and wham!!! Right against the wall, my mind goes. I read once, the best way to get over writer's block, is to write. Work on a different project. I've tried that with a FanFic, and small flash pieces, but still hitting the wall on my two big ones. So... I turn this question to you, my fellow writers. How do you break the mental block?

Interlude 4: Doctor Shane Thomas
Brayon commented on Brayon's story chapter in Interlude 4: Doctor Shane Thomas
Thank you!!! Yeah, that slimy weasel can slick his way out of anything. There is a lot more to Doctor Thomas, and what he knows. As the saying goes, "He's one of the guys, that knows where all the bodies are buried." -
Act 3 – War and Remembrance – Part 1
Brayon commented on Brayon's story chapter in Act 3 – War and Remembrance – Part 1
Thank you for reading, and for the comment! I'm hoping to have the next installment soonish, so the guys can get back to what they were doing. -
Something that was brought up in a Writer's Corner thread, awhile back, was the new stereotype of the Teenage Adult Characters. Characters who, according to their Authors, are in fact teenagers, but in word and deed are more like Forty Year Old Adults. It's so prevalent in modern literature and programming, one can't read or watch Young Adult focus programs, without there being an adult teen in the bunch. One article I read on the topic, speculated that the stereotype holds true 90% of the time. Yes, there are teenagers who "wise beyond their years," but those Real Life teens are very few, and far between. I bring this up because I'm writing a story about a 18yo gay male. A preview of which is in this very club. So, I'm doing my best, not to fall into the trap. It's hard. Don't bet me wrong, I like some stories that have a version of this in it. Myr's Teran Confederate stories have teens who have been forced to grow up quickly. I love those stories and can't wait for more. (Hint, hint, ). But there are others, who seem to write a story, and then at the last minute say, "Yeah, (s)he's a teenager, and the setting is actually High School! Where they sing and play basketball." So, how do you avoid going down the path of the Teenage Adult? As a side note, if any of my stories, end up with a Teenage Adult, please tell me.

Thanks, jp. One or two more chapters, I see.

Heya. Thanks for asking. I wasn't sure when I was going to revisit this story, as I was using it to overcome a block on an Anthology Project and my two other stories. But the second chapter flowed last night, and my Beta Reader said go for it, so I ended up posting the second chapter. I might take it off of "On Hold", as I'm having issues getting over the block, and this one is coming easy.

All in a Day’s Work “So, how much longer are you going to be around tonight?” Demetrious said across the comm-channel. As capsuleers, they couldn’t speak due to being inside their liquid enclosure pods. Instead, the system used a synthetic voice, and text system to send over impulses from one pod to another, or from the ship to the station. “We have three more warp points to check out.” “Not much longer. After we finish here, I’m taking a Venture out to mine,” Marcus responded to h

I loved that Harry and Louis had that sexual tension, that neither acted upon. Aside from the kiss, of course, which was awesome. I can see them, together later on, if Don said he was fine with it. Granted he already did, but the way he reacted when Louis came home spoke of jealousy when it was his idea for him and Harry to hook up. I don't think neither Don or Louis is ready for a 3rd person to be in the picture. Missing mom, I'm wondering what she thinks about the boys fighting. Don't miss that hateful sister, *has the baseball bat ready to knee cap if she comes back* and hopefully, we won't see her for a while. Another excellent chapter, tim. You fraking rock!

Thanks, Moggie... I'm planning on just a few more installments, and will get them up soon. On Marcus walking around... Yes, he can according to CCP's official Lore for EVE Online. In Gameplay, they just took that ability away from us, because of poor implemnitation 6 years ago when it was introduced, and we may or may not get it back.
