  1. Thanks, jp. I'll do a few more installments, and try to make space combat a bit more fun than what Marcus normally does. Flies in. Targets Ship. Click the grouped Dual-150mm Railgun Cannons (4 cannons, linked as a fire group) The ship is destroyed in one volley.
  2. New Eden, thrives on the backs of Capsuleers. Men and women who have decided to become immortal through the use of clones. They train, in order to pilot starships of various sizes and roles. Marcus is one such capsuleer, and this is his story.
  3. Becoming a Capsuleer: An EVE Online Story “Are you sure, you want to do this?” The Clone Technician asked Marcus as he lay on the table, awaiting his death. “This is your last chance to back out.” The clone bay was teeming with life here at the Federation Navy Academy station for the Gallente Federation. He was among billions of citizens who, over the years, have enlisted to become a Capsuleer, an independent Clone, who is both Captain and Pilot of a starship. “I’m ready
  4. What @northie said. The GA staff has some great Prompt ideas, and I have an entire collection dedicated to Prompts from that forum. BUT!!!! If you're looking for a prompt that's different from there, here is a couple: A. Space, the final frontier. These are the stories of... what in the world is that coming out of the ocean? It's monsters... from where? B. Laundry Day, in the college dorm room. Your roommate is a hundred times smarter than you, but you're practically family after being roomies for four years. They confess, this laundry day, that they are madly in love with you.
  5. I believe you three have right on the money.
  6. Did I ever say thanks for the ones you pointed out to me? If not, Thanks.
  7. Interesting dilemma. Let's say you came across a story that was horrible. Absolutely Horrible. We've talked about Comments here, and in two other threads, but when the only feedback you can think of is, "You shouldn't be writing," how can you possibly say that to someone?
  8. I saw this question posted on a Queer SciFi Writers Facebook Group. Have you ever written a story, that Readers and Editors loved, but for some reason, you ended up hating your own work? For me, not yet. While writing, I've found elements I didn't like and rewrote those sections before they ever appeared to anyone. What about you all?
  9. In dark times, Americans look out for each other. EDIT: jp. The Pic above is of a screencap from Twitter. In it is a picture of a line that wraps around a city block, with the caption, "This is Houston. Wanna know what the line is for? Food? Water? Housing? Nope. These people are waiting in line to VOLUNTEER. #Harvey"
  10. I'm shamelessly going to plug my Blog post. What this topic and my blog post have in common is the same thing. People are too Politically Correct, and some readers can not let Entertainment, be Entertainment. So what if two characters have Unprotective Sex? So what if one is a Racist, or Homophobe, or Agesist, Ableist, Heterophobe, etc. it's for Entertainment. Not everything has to be some stunning critique on the Human Condition. To me, in America at least, we've become an overly analytic society, where everything has to be for a cause.

  13. That's true, and while I appreciate it, the comments help encourage writing, to finish the story.
  14. To me, when posting online, and in serial story mode, the length of a chapter needs to be long enough to convey the intent of the chapter. It can be as small as 500-1000 words, or as long as 10,000 - 25,000 words. It all depends on what you are trying to get across to the reader in that one specific chapter. Using my story Aeris as an Example. The first few chapters posted online were several story chapters put together because they were too small to stand alone, in my opinion. Now I write a chapter at a time to put what I want in the story out there for that specific point of the story. See Act 3 - Part 1 vrs Act 1 - Part 1.
  15. I did that with Weis' and Hickman's Dragonlance Saga book, Dragons of Summer Flame. They killed off two fan beloved characters. When the first one happened, I stopped reading for a day. When the killed the second one off... took me a month to pick the book back up.
  16. When I first started GA, no I was lax on doing reviews and comments. I do more now, Reviews for completed stories I read, and depending on the story length, if I comment.

I see your full link there.
  19. I'm thinking about asking the GA staff a feature request. No Chapter reactions without a comment. You want to click the like button, well you'll have to leave a comment first. part of me is thinking this would be good, but another is saying it's a very bad idea. Thoughts?

    Bug Report: Blogs

I was able to get to mine, via the menu above, but had trouble locating yours with the search options. I was also able to get to all six of yours via your Profile page, and the blog tab there.
  21. That's a great idea @MrM. Never thought about putting together a playlist of songs, like that.
  22. I'll pass this time, but if it becomes a pattern, then I'll ask.
  23. What @Myr said. But, one thing about our site, is we can put multiple genres on a story. Let's say you did a story about Space Cowboys, ala Firefly type. That could be Drama, Western, and SciFi. I think the overall world, would be the main focus, ie Space Travel = SciFi, but when elements mix, add in those other genres.
  24. Had an interesting personal reaction to someone's reaction to one of my story chapters tonight. Someone left the "Angry" react on a story chapter of mine, but no comment as to why they left that reaction. Kinda pissed about it, but oh well.
  25. I totally agree with you. It does feel like no one cares when you don't get any reaction on chapters and stories. Likes are nice, but the emptiness of zero comments on a chapter, makes me feel like I screwed up somewhere.
