    Chapter 1

An enjoyable start and a good twist. I await the next installment with interest.

    Prologue

An atmospheric start. One feels as if one were on the beach with the captain. Looking forward to getting into this story.

    Fathers' Day

For me, the story could finish here. It’s an utter delight and your turn of phrase is wonderful. I’m deeply jealous. Thank you xxxx

    Kiln Me Now

Wonderfully funny comments from/about Ryan. I have been snorting like a pug!
  6. Our wiener 001 managed to open a sock drawer this week raising the list of her crimes to a new height. I’m so with Ryan.
  7. A skillfully-written piece covering a few decades but without the jerkiness of some efforts to put so much time into one chapter. It is seamless. Thoroughly enjoyable ready and, who knows, you may be crying, laughing, or smiling by the end. Or all three! Now knowing its author when I read it, I am even more impressed. I had thought this was by Mark Arbour and that it showed all his skills.. You are in good company @chris191070 well done!!!!!

    Chapter 1

I too found this v disturbing to read. However well-written it left me deeply uncomfortable.

    Chapter 1

It has cat prints all over it @kbois but would you let someone actually kill the cat? A “good editing programme”, or just a very good writer like someone we know….. My SA lie detector has been turned on…
  11. Spot on. Very moving. Sad that the modern day Pharisees cannot see themselves as equal in hypocrisy to those condemned so strongly by Jesus in the Gospels.
  12. The title says it all, or does it? An intriguing read with some fantastic language and imagery. I loved all 1300 words of it. Try it and prepare to be teased!

    Chapter 1

Beautifully written, even poetic at times. Some of the imagery is captivating: “Neither religion nor politics could function without the intricate web that those embroiled within its gossamer threads weave day in and day out.” Whoever you are, you know how to write. Utterly intriguing 🧐
  14. Not an easy read for those who were already adults in the 80’s. It is described by the author as “autobiographical”, but raises questions as to whether this is a literary device or a factual account. Regardless, it shows the worst and best of humanity in the worst days of the AIDS pandemic. For younger readers, this might in the PREP generation seem ancient history but as one report I read estimates that 25% of men on the gay scene in London are HIV+, perhaps there is a relevance here for all. “Yet, I miraculously traversed a literal minefield of despair and devastation, emerging on the other side with my story to tell.”

  15. A lovely amuse bouche to start my reading off, with a delicious frisson at the end. This is a good writer.

    Chapter 1

The ending is wonderful! Good writing, whoever you are…..
  17. I’m still miffed I didn’t connect Mark to the Cruise story given his delights in going;g on them! 😐
  18. I’ve got all the time in the world, sadly. A week nearly of Covid and it will take 21 days to clear my system thanks to immunosuppressants. This year I am going to crack this competition. I’ve perked up my excel spreadsheet from last year and will be cross-referencing clues, comments and barefaced lies…
  19. Many thanks, indeed! And doing this whilst quite poorly is v generous of you…
  20. Only just seen it’s gone live
  21. And the award for best chapter title goes to……. 😀
  22. He has had too much work on the face to be trusted?! Had a French colleague who could not believe that I was 65 without Botox. He told an enthralled staff table that he imported (illegally) Botox and self injected, “like anyone over 30”…… Students then found his indiscreet “modelling” web page! He left us.
  23. 99°F forecast here for tomorrow. Hiding inside. The two creatures who used to be my pets are draped on my bed beneath a ceiling fan…. Seen reports of floods hitting SE states. Hope all ok.
  24. Not every boy’s dream, perhaps 🤔 it wasn’t mine! 😆
