I couldn't agree more. At least we can rule out anyone currently working at the cinema, except for Colin. Still, I can't see Colin stealing an SUV and running a sick old man down in front of the place he works. Terry needs to be very careful. I'm not sure why, but I feel a little relieved that the police know the story (sort of). It's not going to help poor Maurice be less dead, or put Terry and Dan in less danger. We desperately need a seance!

Chapter 20: Heart to Heart
CincyKris commented on Demiurge's story chapter in Chapter 20: Heart to Heart
I truly don't care whether they settle in Iowa, Washington, or somewhere else. I just think it was a little one-sided that everyone but @Geemeedeeand myself assumed that it was going to be Alec that uprooted his life and moved. People live their own lives away from the small town and families they grew up in all the time. It doesn't mean they are cutting their family out of their lives. This town is not a prison (although it certainly was to Alec and River at one time). -

Chapter 20: Heart to Heart

I agree completely with @Geemeedee, why can't Finn move to Washington? He is a partner in the gym, he can be a financial partner from anywhere in the world. They can hire another trainer. I guarantee that if Milo knew that Finn was currently using him as an excuse to break things off with Alec, he would kick his ass. As for what is waiting for Alec in Washington: his house, his friends, his job. His whole life is not summed up by his sexual relationships. Why should Alec be the one who gives up everything? Also, this is not a 100 years ago! With planes, skype, FaceTime Finn can keep in close contact with his family. Millions of people do it everyday. -
I'm hoping the mention in an earlier chapter of the extinction event 250 million years ago is not related!

Just started reading this post-covid. The mention of a potential pandemic causing such a response was not entirely off the mark. Great story so far.

I can't decide whether Timok is a more aggressive version of Essell's father (completely consumed by his profession) or more sinister. I guess we'll find out eventually. Let's hope Essell doesn't get drunk and do something embarrassing. Let's also hope that if the Kardoval try something evil that Bouncer does to them what he did to the pillow!

New Store, New Nonsense
CincyKris commented on astone2292's story chapter in New Store, New Nonsense
While I'm not a Bourbon Bloodhound, I do like my bourbon. I've been to the Buffalo Trace distillery in Frankfort, they have free tours and tastings. Your bloodhounds could easily drive to Frankfort and buy their Eagle Rare, but they do not sell Pappy Van Winkle at their gift shop. I'm a fan of dingey, bare bones liquor stores that just sell liquor, we have one in our working class town. No pretensions or gentrification. Have you had any customers today wearing tight boxer briefs as shorts? I have. At a garden center. I thought the little old lady buying petunias was going to get whiplash! -
Wow!!!! Alec finally tells his mother off, and his father does the same! Alec finally admits to himself that it's ok to like Finn! So many strides forward.

Night One for Yuri and Zoya
CincyKris commented on R. Eric's story chapter in Night One for Yuri and Zoya
My mind is plenty open, I love science fiction. The vampire parts of your story are great, your characters are engaging. But when you introduce an argument between your characters and reference "science", you leave yourself open to scientific debate. -
Night One for Yuri and Zoya
CincyKris commented on R. Eric's story chapter in Night One for Yuri and Zoya
Just an FYI, the theory of Lemuria has been completely disproved by our knowledge of plate tectonics. There are a few "sunken continents" and former land bridges in the oceans, but Lemuria is most definitely not one of them. Our current technology allows us to map the oceans, even if we haven't explored all the depths. No such remnants exist of this mythological continent. The myth was created to explain the existence of lemur fossils in Madagascar and India, but not in the surrounding land masses. We now know about plate tectonics and can scientifically test rock samples to know which pieces of land used to connect. -
Poor Jack, if he had only visited Terry the following evening at Dan's, he could've enjoyed a little celestial voyeurism!
-
I was also thinking that George may be involved. Could Terry's inquiries have restarted the buried drama?

I love that Jay, who was very concerned that he never had kinky sex with Loren, finally had what he thought was kinky sex, and experienced immediate karmic blowback!

I know who I hope is the descendant! Of the good guys. Wait, are there good guys in the past? You definitely know how to write ambiguous characters, lots of gray, no black and white! I appreciate that. You absolutely have to keep writing, you put too much complicated crap in my brain to just leave it. We're already down the rabbit hole!

My big question in this chapter is "who is they"? Who were the they that mined Castle's brain for the memories and genetic sequences that created Alice, Devan, et. al? Alice said they were long since gone, but are their descendants still around? Is it the same they that is now trying to kill Castle? Do we have opposing theys ? One more side question, how did the flesh and blood people from Castle's past get created? I bet they did it!
-
So the big question is whether Alec is ready to allow himself to be happy. In his head, he is asking himself if he willing to take a chance on giving himself to Finn and losing him because he is broken. We all know how inside his head Alec is. I hope he allows his friends to adjust his self valuation.

Well at least Essell is trained in psychological warfare, growing up with his mom. I think this dinner is going to be a doozie!

No new guesses from me this week, although I'm still holding on to my previous theories. I'm more and more convinced that Brenda knows everything and is involved, at least as a witness, if not more. I've no doubt she is fearful and worried about her husband, but if it was just that, why does she let him wander so much? If she was really so concerned just about him, shouldn't she keep him from wandering who knows where and saying who knows what? I think she's fearful for herself, as well, and that the person she fears is not on another continent!

The following quote sums up Alec (unfortunately): "It’s not a fun place to be, my head. I’m mostly running everything over in my mind repeatedly. Trying to find a scenario or detail that hurts me the most.” Alec shrugged and smiled softly as he watched his feet on the uneven ground. I'm hoping that Alec can turn this around and let himself be happy. Finn and River can be helpful and supportive, but they can't fix his problems, only Alec can do that.

Played like a blitz on third down
CincyKris commented on Mrsgnomie's story chapter in Played like a blitz on third down
Maybe if we keep debating and discussing Lars, she'll move up the reconnection/confrontation. I agree with @Pickalane , Lars lost his best friend that day, too. And while Loren had his friends and Isaac's parents, all Lars had was his bad excuses for parents. But I keep coming back to the fact that adult Lars has had well over a decade as an adult to contact Loren. Unless they all moved to a cave, he was aware of Loren's success, and was very reachable. So the big mystery is why didn't he?- 96 comments

@raven1summed up my thoughts, as well. The fact that Brenda is still so afraid leads me to believe that at least one of the killers is currently around, maybe Colin? Who was the one that hit Maurice in the past, Jack? Is Brenda terrified only because she is worried about Maurice, or could she be involved? I love a good mystery!

I loved the Christmas scene, you have obviously experienced the feeding frenzy of a toddler opening presents! The adult feeding frenzy was just as funny. I've gone back and forth on how I feel about Lars. Right now I'm somewhere between "he's a victim of horrible parents" and "he's a grown-ass adult and could've reconnected years ago if he is a half-way decent human being" . Can't wait to find out his story. I'm looking forward to the meet the parents ordeal.- 96 comments

There was a lot of tension between our men in this chapter. I was surprised that Black relaxed enough to make a connection with Castle at the end. Castle started the chapter with his usual "acting out" routine, but closed it with honest emotion. Not as much action, but a hell of a lot of growth for both men. Sad to hear of lavender's demise.

Safe, but rough landing. Spirits are high, but anxious. Broadcasting their message to a staged crowd. I hope the Kardoval use logic and reason now that first contact has been made, you can't put the cat back in the bag. I hope that Garjah not wearing a protective suit is not foreshadowing!
