Great first chapter! I have a feeling that Kavan is right, his brothers won't give up! Are his captors going to be good guys or bad guys? His sire, Konstantin? Looking forward to more.
-
Please let Essell figure out that Bouncer is completely sentient! I hope that Garjah is only drugged.

Thank you for this difficult chapter. I feel like Stefan has hit rock bottom and is starting to emerge. He is taking his survival into his own hands, he was using his brains to escape.
-
I'm desperately hoping that this brutality is the beginning of Stefan's escape from his father! He's going to have to extremely strong to recover from this.
-
I feel nothing but disgust for Stefan's father. But I can't help but wonder how he and his brother turned into such monsters. We're they abused as kids? I can't imagine Stefan turning out that way, if he were to even survive. How does a college educated man, who managed to find a woman to marry him, found a decent job, have such hatred that he tortures his own son? I have to think he is mentally ill, but I find no sympathy for him. The world is better off without him.
-
I don't get any sense that Stefan has hope for the future, or even that he deserves anything better. I think that is the saddest thing so far. As for the uncle, I'm betting that piece of garbage was in prison for a while, otherwise poor Stefan's miserable life would have been even worse. Predators rarely give up an easy target unless they have to. Somehow I doubt dear old dad protected him from his brother!
-
I am just reading based on a recommendation from @weinerdog as well! I loved Double Concerto, I'm not sure how this one slipped through the cracks. I'm sad for Stefan, angry at dad, sad and angry with the school system for letting this poor boy exist in hell for 8 years without anyone noticing or doing anything about it. I agree with an earlier comment that dad most likely killed his mom, then used her "disappearance" as ammunition against him.
-
I will parrot the other reviewers and call this a "must read". You don't want to miss out on one of the best looks at self-discovery, living with mentally ill family members, and perseverance! Don't let the heavy material scare you off, this is life affirming.

I'm finally getting to the anthology stories after investing a lot of time reading 18 Weeks of Twoey by the late great Skinnydragon (122 chapters!). This is one of the best written and most thought provoking stories I've read. You hooked me emotionally when Shay threw away the swim clothes and cried in the shower, hating themselves. I understand more about non-binary people than I ever did before. Thank you!

This was a wonderful dystopian adventure! I agree with most of the readers, climate change will not only change the environment, our reaction to the changes will determine whether our society will survive intact! If we don't cooperate with each other, there is the very real threat that nationalism will thrive and free expression will disappear in many countries. Stories like this will hopefully prove as cautionary tales to keep us on our toes.

Ok, which one of you krew members ordered a "bomb cyclone superstorm" for Alaska?! Not cool, man!

Chapter 35: Reunion Part II
CincyKris commented on Demiurge's story chapter in Chapter 35: Reunion Part II
Absolutely no offence meant to any other readers, but anyone who has read this entire story and expects Alec to suddenly become an optimist, is probably projecting their own personality onto Alec. He suffers from severe anxiety and depression, he can't just "snap out of it" because his life events are improving. I think this was a great chapter because it showed some realistic give and take between Alec and Finn, the great sex was a bonus! I love Cam & Luke more every chapter. -
I'm getting the sense more and more that the Kardoval are completely out of touch with their own people. Kidnapping Garjah will be their death knell. Can't wait for next Wednesday, so we can get back to the rescue!

Chapter 34: Reunion Part I
CincyKris commented on Demiurge's story chapter in Chapter 34: Reunion Part I
Even though we knew Finn was coming (I mean the title was Reunion!), it was still fun and satisfying. I like the juxtaposition with River turning into the self-doubting, inside his head, basket case! He obviously needs to talk to Kenji, but he's afraid of hearing the wrong thing. I hate the thought of River being so far away, but I love the thought of confident River taking over Japan! -
My initial thoughts are that it is not Neall. He paid way too much to just kill him. Still sad for the lost boy, whoever he was. The heavy ending overshadowed the food porn beginning, I'm definitely going to have some smoked meat today!

Welcome back! I missed you! Alec started to spiral, but worked his way out of it, with Finn's help. I hope he has unlimited international on his phone plan. You absolutely have to make Cameron and Luke your next story!

Chapter 32: Struggling Shadows
CincyKris commented on astone2292's story chapter in Chapter 32: Struggling Shadows
As I'm reading, I'm sipping' on some Cleveland Underground small batch bourbon with a dash of peanut butter whiskey, neat. When I'm in the mood for sweets, I've made a few decent cocktails with bourbon, peach jam and a shake of peach white balsamic. I promise I'll try the Dr. Peppermints. As for the cow-man story, I'm still waiting for my mole-people! You should totally check with your husband before you start selling him by mail!!!! Cernunnos sequel and Zombies? I'm all in!- 53 comments

Chapter 32: Struggling Shadows
CincyKris commented on astone2292's story chapter in Chapter 32: Struggling Shadows
Wow, great lessons learned! Sheboygan, please let us hitchhike along on that assignment! The cliffie, hmmmmm, I can't see Yakob losing to anyone, including Stefan, so what could have happened? Finally, I'd try the Dancing Bear (just one), but you still haven't sold me on the Dr. Peppermint!- 53 comments

This was such a strong expression of love, loss and regret! The first chapter was full of righteous anger, this was more sad, for the narrator and for the lost lover who chose the easier path. I wonder if they regret their choice. I wonder if there is still hope. You packed a hell of a lot into a few lines!

I'm wondering if finding the twins (that niggling feeling) might be instrumental to either finding other pups or to finding the cure? What are you trying to tell us Kage??!!

I hope there is more to Chaintrik's plan than that! Garjah won't like that plan anymore than Bouncer! At least we have undeniable proof that Bouncer is sentient and understands language.

I started this hoping it would be a good-enough filler story, you know those unobjectional tales that fill the time between updates of your followed stories. Instead I found one of the best written, thoughtful, and engaging stories I have read! My only sadness comes from knowing this great author is deceased.
-
I loved the paragraph describing Toph's love and appreciation for Oscar's patio. Is it prophetic? Will be live there some day? Oscar seems to be his chosen father figure.
-
I don't usually comment on a long published story (specially one who's author is deceased) but I couldn't help myself. Both, because this story is so well written and engaging, and because so many of the readers comments are stuck on one point -- Gary is bad and can't be trusted. I don't understand the level of animosity for this character. He made some mistakes early in the friendship which were exacerbated by neither character communicating well. The readers seem to want Toph to hold on to grudges and resentments and crawl back behind his fences. Of course, I could be wrong, and if this is the case, please don't tell me until I finish the story!
