Ramblings of a Mad Man
Former Member commented on Headstall's story chapter in Ramblings of a Mad Man
Hi Gary, this summes up what the world feels today for me, too. Thank you for your words. Just the line: "Is there anyone to lead us" Leaves me with the thought, is there a need for anyone to lead. Maybe it is better, if we do not have a leader and come to mind for ourselves? Not easy to say. B and I discussed a book today, were someone was asked, how he could survive imprisonment in the Vietnam war. He said: The way for surviving was to face all bad facts, but never give up believing that everything will become good. So step one done, now step two? Hug you Lyssa. -
This is a magnificent one...

I’m sure Daniel would give me a ticket for lack of style. I grew up in the ‘70s, I am a jeans-and-t-shirt guy to the core. I had one Ralph Lauren Polo shirt in the ‘80s, but it’s too small for me to wear – that’s the most fashionable I’ve ever been. I have never owned any custom-made clothing unless you count the things my mother made for me in the ‘60s and ‘70s! ;-)

Tonight on Tech24 (on France24), there was a story about flying cars. Personally, I think it’s the stupidest waste of resources. We already have problems with idiots flying their drone helicopters into restricted areas like wildfires. We already have too many people wasting energy by flying across the continent when trains would be much more efficient (yes, yes, I know, you can’t get there using Amtrak and it’s much more expensive anyway). But we don’t really charge the real costs associated with flying. Flying airplanes is one of the worst polluting forms of transportation out there. The US government subsidizes the entire industry by building airports. In the US, most rail infrastructure is built by private companies. If they put as much resources into rail as they do air, we could have a world-class high-speed rail system, but most governments cannot see the benefits like California does. Much of the air traffic in California is between LA area, the Bay area, San Diego, and Sacramento. California’s so-called High-Speed Rail will connect those four regions with a much more efficient system. Naturally, other than short distances like the English Channel and between some of the major Japanese islands, there are few practical underwater routes. Cost is the main reason, but lack of demand is the other major reason why other routes could never be practical. (Even adding a second BART tube under the SF Bay has been controversial due to the extreme cost, although there has been more talk about it recently.) Convince me that I’m wrong.

Oh no, you’re not even a fraction as disturbing as the particular prowler I was thinking of. If this particular prowler were a superhero, the Prowler would be the first to violently break up legitimate, peaceful protests and would be extremely busy deporting American citizens who happen not to be carrying ID, but whose appearance indicates their ancestry is not wholly Northern European.

You have to remember that one of my major diagnoses is Anxiety. I keep putting it off. But I hate the phone, so it’ll be a card. I found a box of Monopoly-themed change of address cards from decades ago. I still need to figure out what to say, but at least I have the card. Little steps.

Daniel will live on in the stories you’ve posted here.

sports If, as expected, the Raiders move to Las Vegas…
Former Member replied to Former Member's topic in The Lounge
The Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority is looking for a way to evict the Raiders after the next season. Accountants have pointed out that the City of Oakland loses money by having the Raiders, it costs more in police overtime than the city makes in revenue. Accountants have also questioned the numbers used to justify Las Vegas’ new stadium. Right now, it’s going to cost each resident (man, woman, and child) $1000 each. When they find out how much it’s going to cost vs how much it will bring in, the Raiders might end up homeless. Mark Davis is an idiot. I pity whatever city the Raiders end up in. Mark and his father, Al, have no loyalty or respect for fans or tradition. Mark Davis will go wherever the money is handed out free to wealthy team owners. Rome used gladiators to distract the populous from various troubles. The wealthy paid to stage them. These days, the wealthy expect to be paid to ‘allow’ their teams to distract the populous. What idiots we’ve become. -
Didn’t Merida run around with a bow and arrows? And besides, was’t Leia’s cutting wit at least as dangerous as her blaster shots? ;-)

Former Member commented on Renee Stevens's blog entry in Gay Authors Archive
Congrats to everybody who contributed a story, and especially to Val, Parker and Pup. You know, I suspected those stories would place top three, so it's nice to be in there amongst them Thanks to all for voted for Suffer No Fools <3 I appreciate it. -
What a beautiful tribute. I feel like I’ve gotten to know him through your stories and our conversations. I know it’s not even close to being the same, but I’ll miss him too.

I guess my mention of his death in the When We Rise topic wasn’t noticed. I thought about posting a separate one like this, but didn’t get around to it. Thank you for doing it, Daddydavek. They had a small gathering yesterday evening at Harvey Milk Plaza in The Castro in his honor where they lowered the rainbow flag and replaced it with a new one. Gilbert didn’t believe that we should ever fly the rainbow flag at half-staff.

Hi tim, your poem is wonderful. I have tears in my eyes. I guess everybody who lost a beloved pet understands this. In your entry you pointed out the most important things they do for us: Accepting us the way we are and really living each moment. Counting time, saving time would never be part of their life. Hugs Lyssa

You know, maybe Dustin could have his HEA with Em. She certainly responds every time he kisses her. And she seems to know everybody’s secrets already… -

The Tollbooth Operator

Hi Tim, I am fascinated with this story. It is like setting a foot on a path, that brings you easily deeper and deeper into someones mind. Thank you for writing this. Lyssa -
Very touching, Tim. They love with their whole hearts, and teach us it's possible. I love that he adopted you when you needed him.

Gilbert Baker died today (March 31, 2017) in New York City at the age of 65. He was best known as the designer of the Rainbow Flag. Gilbert Baker originally designed the flag as a symbol for the 1979 1978 San Francisco Gay Freedom Day Parade. It was internationally adopted as a symbol of the LGBTQ Community.

Hi, the little ones are so lovely. And it is sad, that one died. I hope the others will be well. I loved the pictures. Lyssa -
It’s comes quick, kills and goes away! It comes… “Your brother is dealing with some governing nobles now about it now.” Redundant ‘now.’ If nothing else, they are getting prepared for future attacks by Len Na. How will they defeat her if she’s so persistent? And what will she come up with if she decides this attack wasn’t successful enough?

I know I read this on your site, but I only vaguely remember this first chapter. I guess I’ll be forced to read the whole story all over again! ;-) Great to see you back too! ;-)

Yay! Scott and Graham have a future! ;-) But how will Scott make things right with his former victims? What can he possibly do to make up for the hurt and pain he caused? Who would want to hear even an apology from him? I see a very long sequel with Scott visiting someone new every chapter trying to right his wrongs. Predator Prey Pruned*? ;-) *Most of the ‘pr’ words in Dictionary.app are either pre-something or pro-something, none of which are appropriate in this context.

My Laptop Loves Breaking Down
Former Member commented on Drew Espinosa's blog entry in Drew's Slice of Pi
You need to open up the laptop, if you never done this, it is maybe a little complicated, but often the dust sticks in the fan and it dose not get enough air.
