Memorial for a Big Brother

The story was inspired by Prompt #211:

You’re a closeted gay man at a company gathering, for example, a conference of some kind. The company brought in a unique kind of entertainment and you’re attracted to one of the entertainers. With their costumes, you can’t tell if they’re male or female. You decide, what the heck, and ask them to meet you later. They’re not what you expected.

We follow Ken and family, as Ken receives a letter concerning something that happened whilst at University.

But when a strange fox appears on a moon-lit run one night, Aaron discovers the universe is not as it appears. Charlie Hughes encounters an old friend who has four children, but there's something going on with this family. After taking the oldest boy shopping and buying him an expensive watch Charlie is called in the middle of the night because the boy is being kicked out. When Charlie goes to the family home he discovers the boy and been beaten, whipped, raped, and one of his arms is broken. Charlie takes the boy into his home and all hell is loosed on his life.

In his youth, Shawn passes through life as if it's an amusement park ride. Men come and go, all while his slightly judgmental friend, Ian, looks on.

This is the story of Shawn dealing with the repercussions of his choices, and then him growing into his own life.
