April 1940, Denmark.

Karl Nielsen is a 17-year-old boy who has been helping his parents at the familial farm from an early age on a small island on the west coast of Denmark. However, his life shatters the day when Germans invade Denmark and arrive where they live. His father still manages to send him on a boat for England before the Nazis can take him away.

In a country he has never been to before, he will have to survive on his own right in the middle of the madness of the war.

Will he manage to make it through despite all the hardships he will have to face?

A young man finds love twice

A midlife single university teacher in ornithology feels deeply unhappy with his life so far and starts pondering what made it that way. But although he is able to find part of the answers, he doesn’t have the courage to change it. When he is sent on a field research job in Alaska, the total change in environment brings him this courage and he enjoys the new-found freedom with the help of an extraordinary guide.

Random things I have written - VERY random!

This is the story of two high-schoolers in the mid-70s growing closer and learning about life and love in rural Ohio. All songs and key phrases are linked to a video.

My entry for the Sub-Genre Rewrite the Prompt Challenge. Mystery Noir/Hard-Boiled. A hardened and weary detective sees a lady in over her head and the only spark of good left in his soul compels him to intervene.

The Squire’s Tale is the final episode in Tales Along the Way, a trilogy of stories told by three business men traveling together on a long-haul flight. As the title suggests, this is a tale about a young gay man who is drawn into a dangerous adventure and an international intrigue. This is a admittedly a complex story, with 25 scenes spread over nine chapters. The story moves between two continents, such that simultaneous events have to be described more than once from different points of view. There is also a flashback chapter, which is clearly identified. I hope I have made it clear enough where and when each scene takes place.

Bodark Creek is a small, former mill town, north of Dallas and close to the Oklahoma border. Starting in 1908, Addy Bronner Braden spends most of her very long life there, surrounded by her large, close family. She loves them, leads them, and depends on them.

There is one gay person in this book – my husband. That makes sense, since the book is based on one half of his family tree. But he only turns up at the very end and as a visitor. And that about defines the relationship between gay people and this part of his family.

“Shoulder Season” is the sequel to “The Boys of Summer.” Pate and Timmy explore what it means to be in a relationship over the fall and winter months on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. This book commences on Labor Day weekend after Pate has sent Timmy home with his grandmother to protect him from a possible drug investigation. The ying and yang of their shared life plays out in both challenging and revelatory ways as they figure out what it means to be a couple.
