Timmy's Journal - 11. Autumn in the City Out
It's Friday, which seems to be my favourite day to post poems. I've got a couple more here. I got a little artsy and added some colour.. okay it's sad I know. The first one I wrote well, mainly because it's getting cooler here and it's very windy and grey today.
Autumn in the City
People bend in scarves and gloves
as north winds steal last leaves.
Now lost, tree litter carpets the ground.
And clouds, in twenty shades of grey
float – then gallop across blue sky.
We huddle in warm homes and
wait for winter’s white.
This second one is for a friend, who isn't out and I worry for him that he may never be. He wants to be I think but there are things keeping him hidden. If I'm honest it makes me very angry, that anyone is expected to live like that because they are afraid of the fall out. No straight person would hide, (ok maybe they would for reasons unknown to me.. I don't want letters or hate mail) not like gay people (and others) do or feel they have to.
Out
You hide in your closet
Afraid to come out
Is it fear of how others
will see you?
What about you, your
life and desires?
Is it time to be you?
Step out of the dark.
Don’t be afraid
Look around there’s
lots of us here
Take my hand
I’ll catch you.
