Cozy Contemplations - 30. Chapter 30 Frank's Red Hot

Just some silly fun. This metaphoric offering was inspired by me picking out some pretty intense camouflage hiking boots instead of the nice, safe, black ones befitting a man of my age. Those were already in my cart, but... screw that!

Frank’s Red Hot

My life needs a little coriander

Cilantro if you will

Someone with a spicy candor

Tinged with the tartness of dill

No, I’m not asking for Cayenne

My genes aren’t up to the task

I happen to be a Scotsman, you ken

My heat best comes from a flask

A nutty citrus would be nice

To wake up my saliva

Or Hollandaise, drizzled on rice

Followed up with chocolate Godiva

Bland isn’t working anymore

Maybe it’s time for some ginger

Salt and pepper have become a bore

With curry I could become a binger

The world is full of different flavors

And I deserve my share

Some exotic fruits for my labors

To enhance one’s tangy fare

Maybe some cumin seeds for a start

To wake my palate with their bite

Enough strong herbs to jolt the heart

And sate my staled appetite

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

They all become the same

Screw the routine, where’s the comfrey?

I’m sick of being tame

Oh hell, some wings with Frank’s Red Hot

A juice to get me flying

I don’t want the usual store-bought

Just a spice who keeps me trying

I loved this; it’s just what I needed today! I read each stanza and my smile grew wider. Some heat and spice can be very, very nice...

Thanks, Parker. I had fun writing this, and some of my thoughts slid toward the naughty, I must admit. Glad it could make you smile. :D

But I like vanilla ... yet a little spice is always nice but please hold the cilantro. This was fun.

It's wonderful that I could do that, mayday! That was my goal, to have some fun with poetry... often it has been heavy of late. Thanks for reading and commenting, my friend  ... cheers... Gary....

I see you've altered the adage--or is that adulterated?  Life is the variety of spice....   😸

Hollandaise on rice?  Dare I say...yuck.

Have I? Cool. I enjoyed writing this metaphorical take on life, buddy. And it all started with a pair of camo boots. :P I guess, though, in thinking about it, my attitude may have started with finally getting a new puppy and shaking up my life. Either way, I can still walk on the wild side if I want, right?

And hey, pork tenderloin and rice pilaf, drizzled with Hollandaise, browned under the oven broiler (because I don't have a salamander), is awesome... or you could do a bearnaise sauce... anyway, it's mouthwateringly good. Trust me. lol Thanks, CG... xoxoxo

You don't have a salamander?  A semi-mythical fire-breathing lizard could be useful in cooking I suppose.  :)

LOL. I meant the steel one. :P I should have put one in when I redid the kitchen.  I do have a bearded dragon, but he just lays under his heat lamp and eats crickets. No fire breathing. :)

Thanks, Geron! It's nice to write poetry that's upbeat and fun. And were you speaking Scottish to me? You should know that gets me going... in a good way. ;)

I had a bad morning, I heard that I may have a heart problem, and sometimes I tend to overthink things. I feel a tad better now that I had some time to digest the news.
Reading this excellent contemplation made me smile and it cheered me up. Thank you, Gary.

LOL. I didn't mean that literally, sis. I love me a little salt and pepper. :blushing: ... but too much routine makes Gary a dull boy. :P  Thanks, Val.
