GA Writing Prompts - 69. Poetry Prompt # 19 - Lullaby

Since I wasn’t particular fond of the Gerswhin piano or string version, I looked for a rock version of Lullaby. The only version I found is a recording by Viktor Zinchuk, a Russian guitarist:

Poem:

Siren Song

sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep
it’s time to dream
dream -----------------
and sleep
safe and sound
safe and sound
safe and sound

I dream ---------------
what?...Oh...I hear
a song
a sweet song sung by you
strange and weird
calling my name
and I can’t resist
I give in to that sweet song
and I dream of you
you, of you

but why?
why
am I disturbed
by this sweet song?
siren song
sweet song
sung to me
at night
I listen and I dream
and I fall for the song
despite
the warning that I hear
that I hear
siren song

horror, horror, horror night
horror, horror
scream--------
slash
scream

massacre part
this is the end of the world
[note: the part is ca. 2 minutes and 35 seconds long]

and I sleep
I sleep
safe and sound
it was
just a bad dream
safe and sound
it was
just a bad dream

and I sleep
I sleep
safe and sound
I sleep
I sleep
and I sleep
I sleep

and I sleep and dream

I like how you built up a story to fit hand-in-glove with the music. You introduced the disturbed part of the dream to work with the change in key, and I find that effective.

Thank you for taking the Poetry Prompt challenge!

Thanks for the feedback, AC Benus. It took me some time to finish the poem, but I definitely liked the prompt. :)
