    Anthology Check-In!

    By Valkyrie

Now that the Secret Author contest is behind us, it's time to focus on our next site event... the annual Anthology!  We have two themes this year - Horizons and Unspoken.  Which one is speaking to you?  Or are they both?  There's just about a month to go before the deadline to submit stories to me for the Proof Team to do their magic.  I've already had some stories come in, and I'm excited to see what else this anthology brings.  So, raise your hands... who's got something in the works for us?

Weekly Wrap Up (Jul. 22 to Aug 2)

Hello GA'ers  Or would that be GA'yers  I like GA'ers better   So thank the unusual weather here in my neck of the woods. I got woken up by a thunderstorm and have kind of been watching the lighting storm lighting up the bedroom. Whilst doing so, I said to myself, 'Self, did you do the Wrap Up last night before bed?' I knew I had not, so here I am at 3:15 AM wrapping things up   I was out to a smaller town called Golden, BC the past few days. Took two my my nephews to the highest suspe

Secret Author Story-Favorite Theme Use Vote!

It was brought to my attention I forgot to feature the poll topic in a blog this week.  Oops!! 🤯  Make sure you vote on your top 3 uses of the "Reveal the Truth" theme in the stories you read. I did have to split the titles across 2 questions, and you have to have at least one story picked in each, so if all 3 of your top choices are in 1 question/answer, please place your votes in a comment and I'll add them in at the end!

July CSR Discussion Day: Carter's Army by Topher Lydon

Can you believe all the stories we've had this month, the authors we've had return, and the reading I've asked you to do? C'mon... it's good for you! A favorite series of GA readers more than a decade ago (I sometimes can't believe I've been here that long either) I hope you enjoyed reading Topher's story, Carter's Army. Check out his interview and what he has going on past and present with that and more! Make sure you share your thoughts below once you're done; maybe we can keep encouraging our

Craft Tips That Aren’t, Vol. 1

At some point, every writer stares into the abyss of their manuscript, googles “how to write good,” and ends up ugly-crying through a screenwriting guru’s YouTube ad. And it is in this fragile, emotionally collapsed state that the truth reveals itself: Most writing advice is either painfully obvious or spiritually useless. (“Just write!” Okay, Brenda. Thanks.) So, in the spirit of not helping whatsoever, here are some writing tips I completely made up while avoiding my own stories.
