    2026 Poetry Anthology - Choices - **Wrap-up**

    By Valkyrie

We had twelve poems featured for this year's poetry anthology. What a perfect way to celebrate National Poetry Writing Month! A huge thank you to all who participated by writing poems, reading, reacting, commenting, and reviewing.  Participation is what keeps these events going every year, and I know myself, for one, look forward to the anthologies all year.  I couldn't coordinate the anthologies without help, so I'd like to give a shout-out to the people who make things happen behind the scenes

Let’s get technical

We all read, and/or have written a story in first person, third person (limited, omniscient), but what about second person?   There are some great examples where writers have used this POV. I thought we would expand our horizon, get out of our comfort zone, stretch our wings, and try something new. PT #307:   Write a vignette, or something longer, where you address your reader. PT#308:   Write a short piece, poem, whatever you like, and address yours

One More Week!

Who's frantically writing and working to get their story done in time for the deadline?   While I don't have the official number of stories submitted yet, I can say we are very close to matching the number of Secret Author stories.  This is going to be a great anthology, so stay tuned!   The Proof Team is hard at work proofreading the stories that have been submitted so far.  Please be patient as more stories are coming in every day, and we are volunteers with a life outsid

Weekly Wrap Up (Sept. 14 - Sept. 20)

Happy Fall, or Spring depending on your hemisphere  Not sure about you, but we are sitting about 6-10 degrees Celsius above our normal temperatures.  Now before you all say it is all the hot air coming from me, we can test that theory. I left for Vancouver on Saturday morning. Thank you Cia for putting in the stories this week and doing the wrap up next week  . So we will see if Calgary cools off, and Vancouver heats up. Actually that would be good for the ego as I think I could say I'm hot

New Novella- Essence of Life is Live

Here's a link to my new Culinary/Romance Fiction story: Essence of Life This story has been a work of labor for many years. I conceived it back in 2019, but did not publish it as there was a lot of issues and Covid put a damper on things. Though not a long story, it's probably one of the most fun stories I've written about food and restaurant culture.  I hope readers will enjoy it and maybe get a little hungry reading it. Good food like good stories should never be wasted. Bon App

Prompt Rewind

Today's prompt blog is going to be a little bit different.  Five years ago, @wildone featured some guest prompts after our prompt guru Comicfan sadly passed away.  One of these prompts was recently resurrected, with several authors taking up the challenge.  This is one of my favorite technical prompts, as it gets authors to consider their words carefully and approach first person POV in a different way.  So please check out the prompt and responses and give it a go yourself.  Be sure to post you
