Weekly Wrap Up!

First - the deadline for the Summer Anthology "Choices" is LESS THAN A WEEK away! Also, if you haven't seen Myr's Thursday post on the "EU Cookie Law and You", please take a moment to check it out.   I hope your weekend is going well. I seem to have a bit of a head cold so this is going to be a more minimal wrap up - hope you understand.   Our Hosted Author Feature story was Double Down by Cia.   In the Author Showcase, our Promising Author spotlight was on Dolores Esteban and our Author s

Weekly Wrap Up (Dec. 4 - Dec. 10)

I will tell you off the start, I had some fun this week  I had the pleasure of stepping in to do the Ask An Author for Aaron this week. It was kind of nice to give him a much needed week off. Still not sure the reason for his absence, but make sure you check out the blog and hazard a guess . So what is new and exciting in my life this week? Well a whole lot of nothing. I'm in what I call the 2 weeks of hell at my real life job that happens every year. Luckily that is done and over with

Weekly Wrap Up (Dec 4 - 10)

Not sure where in the world you are, but Winter has finally arrived here Temperatures reaching highs of -20C / -4F has kept me in a lot and doing a lot of reading instead. Enough about the weather, lets see what happened on the site this week.   Monday we had Cia introduce us to the December CSR Feature. This month we are going to look at Kuragari129's story My Life Started At The End Of The World. If the title doesn't capture your interest then wait until you read the synopsis. Discussion da

Weekly Wrap Up (Jan 8 - Jan 14)

Oh, the way my brain DOESN'T work. I just had it in my noggin the Weekly Wrap Up is on Sunday, and I set up reminders on my phone... for this and next Sunday evening. Not helpful since it should have been Saturday. Whoops! Good thing Myr reminded me. So let's get going, shall we? Monday was a look back of the Review Team's 2023 reviews. If you missed some, check them out now.  Want a laugh? Tuesday was a Comedy Genre Deep Dive by Myr.  Join in for Wednesday's Author Guess Who ga

So as we end January and enter February, we started the week with our first wrap up for our Can't Stop Reading Book Club with Discussion Day. If you've read January's CSR book, Memories of Forgotten Love, by Nephylim, you can still head to the discussion in the link above to give your thoughts on this great work.   For Wacky Wednesday, Yettie One continued his monthly Pulse Behind the GA Crowd, with an interview of KingdombytheSea. It is fantastic to get to know a little bit more about one of

Well a belated Happy Independence Day to our American cousins  Hope you all have recovered from you mid week holiday  Another busy week this week today at the GA blog, so let's jump right into it!   **Special note to everyone on the video that has been posted on the recent Stories Archive Software by Myr**   On Monday, Cia introduced us to this month's CSR Feature for July:   Tuesday, Myr showed us how to follow blogs. Is it narcissistic to say I follow my own blog

Hope everyone has had a wonderful week so far. It was a busy week here at Gay Authors, and not all of it was good. We had the unfortunate task of dealing with a plagiarizer. If you want to find out more, make sure you check out the blog post, Plagiarism Strikes Again, which also explains how to check online to see if your stories have been plagiarized elsewhere. Now lets look at the various blogs!   Contests New Contest Announcing Soon Anthology Announcements: ***NOT

So - did everyone (who needed to) remember to change their clocks?   Before going into our Weekly Wrap Up for GA, I wanted to share a few quick announcements. First - a hearty thanks to Lugh who had been the Lead on this, the GA News Blog. This past week we switched over and I'll be the Lead for a while - so if you have any suggestions or comments, please let me know. Lugh did a fantastic job getting this set up, figuring out the daily format and rounding up the ton of content in the goal of m

Our Summer anthology deadline has come and passed, so looking forward to soon being able to read some good "Choices".   Our week started by Seeking Nirvana - a story by LittleBuddhaTW that was reviewed by Mark 92. Seeking Nirvana is a great story that I first read when David wrote it, but it was sooo good to take another fresh look at this gem.   We had a couple of great tips this week. As one of the possible uses for Tip Tuesday will be interviews, what better than a tip on conducting inter

Are you having a good weekend? I intend to spend mine relaxing and writing! I might even fit in an answer to one of this week's prompts! Or maybe I'll read some of this week's updates from our Hosted and Promising Authors.   Running Far Afield by Libby Drew was our featured story on Monday. This 17k short story was reviewed by Fishwings. A huge fan of hers, he had this to say: I was more than just pleasantly surprised. “Running Far Afield” proved to be one of the best stories I have come acro

So, I started a bit of a firestorm in yesterday's blog. Short story - we're looking to change the format of this GayAuthors.org News Blog from daily to four times a week. As I said yesterday, nothing is set in stone so if you haven't yet, let us know your thoughts.   Otherwise for this week, we started the week by looking at the GA story with the most number of reviews - Paternity by Hosted Author Mark Arbour. In reading the reviews for this story, it is obvious why Mark is such a popular aut

Happy Sunday, y'all. I hope you all have had a great week so far. It was a busy week this past week, so make sure to check out any blog posts you missed. We had another CSR Discussion Day this week, along with the next "Improve & Encourage" critique feature, and the prompts. I think my favorite though, is the new contest announcement. If you've always wanted to publish, then make sure to check out our new novella contest. The grand prize is...we'll help launch the winning story as a self-pub

Howdy Partners Today is the last day of stampede, so I shall be putting away my Cowboy hat, boots and buckle for another year   Today I want to start the blog off by announcing the Love is Love Anthology is now been published and available for download or purchase of hard copies. Since the tragedy in Orlando, many great Authors and Poets combined together to make an Anthology to bring some hope out of the darkness and celebrate something everyone has in common, Love. Lots of our own Authors

First thing, a shout out to my fellow Canucks who are enjoying the Thanksgiving long weekend and stuffing their bellies with turkey. I know this is only relevant to a small number of our Members but I ask all of you to take a moment and think of all the things that you are thankful in your life   Shall we look at the past week in the GA News Blog? Monday started off the week with a compilation of Stories for the C S R Feature. Cia has given us 3 short stories that all are Halloween themed. Bi

I hope everyone had a great week! With the release of the 2015 Spring Anthology, it's time to start looking forward to the 2015 Poetry Anthology and the 2015 Summer Anthology. Look for the announcement for the Summer Anthology within the next week or two, but if you want to get a start on it, the theme is Road Trip! This week we're going to go a little bit backwards in our look back at the week.   For those that didn't already notice, on Friday, there were no prompts. That's because we

So how are you feeling?   I asked one of my friends south of the border and they said fat and broke  I guess the fat from all the food and drinks on Thursday and the broke from Black Friday sales. Not even realizing it was Black Friday on Friday I called our local  iFly location and ended up getting the Black Friday Deal. Yes, I'm getting more for my money but I'm giving them a lot more of it. I hope my nephews and sister enjoy their time in there for Christmas presents. I hope none of the

What a busy week. Did everyone catch the news that the Spring Anthology: It Wasn't Me is now live - we have some fantastic entries there!   So, we started the week with a review of Myr's fanfic Three Edged Sword. Andy021278's review was so good, I started reading the story. It's reviews like this that are so vital to the site - gives you a great flavor for the story so you can see if you want to go read more. And in this case, I personally say yes - more please!   We had two tips this week,

Well hello happy campers . I know it is the Memorial Day long weekend in the US of A, and the Late Bank Holiday long weekend in the UK. Also if you live in Australia's Capital Territory, it is the Reconciliation Day long weekend for them. So did any of you get out camping? Do they call it camping in the UK and Australia? I know here we have trailers or recreational vehicles and tents to go camping, but don't you all call them caravans?  Oh wait, if you are out camping, you won't be here to
