Weekly Wrap Up (Apr. 21 - Apr. 27)

    By wildone

Hey all. This week we continued to focus on the tragic news of @Comicality's passing. I know when I do the wrap up, I'm kind of doing what I hope some of your are doing. catching up on what happened over the week. When I heard we were out of Comsie's articles and also another blog when we heard he was having some health concerns, never did I know this would happen . I enjoy reading all the blogs over the week and liked Comsie's Weekly Writing Articles. They just made sense.  If for som

    RIP - Comicality - May 1975 -- April 2024

    By Myr

I have been following Comicality since New Kid in School first showed up on Nifty in 1998.  I started exchanging emails with him that long ago.  We've been online friends since.  When the opportunity arose for me to start Gay Authors in Sep 2002, Comicality was the first author with us.  When we opened the forums at the very end of July in 2003, it only took me a few days to get Comicality on the forums.  Back then he was on a WebTV... He continued to grow and grow as an author branching ou

who am I?

Today I was faced with a situation that I never hope to be in ever again. I was confronted by a friend of a friend asking me to stay away from our mutual friend. apparently this person thinks that I spend too much time with said friend. I was taken aback by this persons request as I havent seen our friend in about a week and before we only saw each other about once a week. It really bothered me and I informed this person that I hadn't seen said friend and that we barely talk now adays.Needless t

my day off...

So, first I want to say that I stayed up LATE last night since the hubby was out with the guys, and I read a great story by a great writer... and loved it!!So on my day off today, besides the usual boring household chores and the new ones that I have acquired since the little bro has left, I went grocery shopping. Now I hate having to do this on my day off since I work in the grocery store I hate having to go when I don't have to. Anyway, I buy so much stuff that a clerk has to help me out to th

*sniffle, sniffle*

So, today was the big day!!! Little brother went off to college... all by himself... five hours away He came to have breakfast with me on my break at work since I had to be there at 3am and he had to leave before I would get home. He was telling me a story about how he and his 'semi-girlfriend/prom date' went out to lunch yesteday and how she was crying, so being the amazingly strong big sis/ mom figure in his life I waited till he drove out of the parking lot and then I had my breakdown... no clever title here

So you'll all be glad to know that I actually don't have much to complain about today. My bf and I had an argument this morning (big surprise there) but something productive actually came of it, for once. See, he has a college degree, but he works as a cook. This is a long story, but basically he couldn't find anything in the area in his field, and I was still in college, and so we couldn't move. He had a go at graduate school, hated it, and quit, which really confused me because he's a very sma

the unknown...

Well, I thought it would be interesting, since I have never seen any of you but I have a mental picture in my head of what I think you all look like to guess.Vic - I know you are filipino, so obviously olive skin, dark hair and eyes, I think slim since you exercise.Jules - Semi total long hair dark brown, and slim, kind of "punk" maybe... hmmSnowy - Medium build, great eyes that no one ever gets to see.Mark - Tall, dark hair, strong features.Dom - Dark hair and eyes, fit body, strong features,

A public personal apology

There once lived a king, King Myron, who ruled over a large land named Gafa. King Myron's conquests were formidable. He had built his realm from a small fiefdom into a large kingdom, annexing land after land. There came a time in the history of Gafa where this growth had exceded King Myron's ability to effectively administer the kingdom. Gafa contained a diverse population, and the lords of the realm were a fractious bunch. In a brief border altercation, the Flower Lords were defeated by th

on your ass...

So, today as my husband was leaving for work he comes back in the house to tell me that I have to take him to work because he has a flat tire and doesn't have time to fix it before work. This means that I also then have to drive back at lunch time to take him to get some lunch since he is without a car and then go back when he gets off work and bring him home. Anyway, while we are driving back from lunch, I pull up behind this truck at the light and he has bumper stickers all over his rusty old

my proudest moment as a parent... again

For those of you who have kids, let me ask you this. Have you ever had one of those days where your kid does or says something so unbelievably out there that you are wondering if they have learned ANYTHING from you EVER? Well, my daughter, almost 10 and in the fifth grade, yesterday is telling me a story about how she and her dad were at the grocery store and in the checkout line she saw a magazine cover with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on it. She proceeds to tell me that Angelina stole Brad fr

Beer and Ninja Turtles

So it's 5:30 in the morning, I lost count of how many beers I had, and I'm feeling less long-winded than usual, but I wanted to write about two things just so I don't forget them. Apparently blue hair says to people, hey, I'm really outgoing, come talk to me about stupid crap. I was leaving my building at around midnight or so, and this 40-ish guy comes around the corner and gets a look at me and says, "Ooh, are you punk?" I gave him a weird look and mumbled something, and he started rambling on

America's Best Friend

I was watching my usual highbrow, intellectual television programming tonight and caught a South Park episode about dancing. "You got served" sums up the theme. Anyway, in that episode, Stan makes a comment to Butters: "You might as well go to France with all the other pussies." That comment struck me with the inherent bias Americans seem to hold against France.Bias, you say? Well, we like their luxury goods, as does most of the world. The French corner on that market was established by Lo

a pick me up...

Ok, so I was at work the other day and I was behind a counter looking for something that I was not finding, (of course) and I made this whistling noise... anyway when I look up there is this guy standing there and I get a huge grin on my face because I am kind of embarrased thinking that he probably thought I was whistling at him which, of course, I wasn't. So, I ask him "What can I do for you?" and his reply to me was "Anything you want with that smile" Corny... anyway so my question for

I'm so blue...no, really

That's right, I've dyed my hair blue. Bright, that-color-isn't-actually-found-anywhere-on-planet-Earth, blue. And oh god do I regret it. Not because my hair is blue, that actually looks pretty cool, but because now everything else is blue as well. My face, my neck, my shoulders, the walls of the shower. I scrubbed my face until it was red and painful. Still blue. I scrubbed the shower until I thought the paint was gonna come away. Still blue. At the moment my boyfriend is in there with some of t

still asking...

Howdy all~Well, I have another pressing question for you all... I guess you are sensing a theme here So the question of the day is this: What is your favorite body part? And I don't want to hear 'penis' although it may very well be, except for us girls since we don't even have one... of our own at least. My answer is my feet... I like them and I think I have cute toes... My husband says my ass, but it is my favorite so I am going with feet.Hugs, Vivian PS. I saw Dom on earlier and am very reli

The Mission?

Michael raises an interesting question. What is the scope of the forum? Is it a broad group of friends who meet here to share views of all types, or is it a narrow group focussed solely on stories? I did a brief review of the forum and the most active postings, interestingly enough, were those dealing with members and their personal issues, whether they're job troubles, boyfriend troubles, or simply birthday greetings. It seems that the reality of the forum contradicts it's mission statement

Decency

"Surely freedom of speech does not preclude decency?" I'm quoting this from Connor's post on my last blog entry, and I think it's a point well worth considering. And no, Sharon, I'm not trying to use this as a platform to slam the Rainbow People or our private leader. So what's the answer to that question? I think that freedom of speech does preclude decency, and I base that assertion on two key factors. The first is that "decency" is a relative, subjective term. What is decent for one may

this one's for will...

Ok since you demanded another entry.... I love shoes. Not to the point that I own a ridiculous amount of them, but I really think you can tell a lot about a person by the type of shoes they wear. For example I hate those flip flops or sandals with the really big foam heels that all the girls wear now, or if I see a guy wearing nice shoes, I know he at least has some fashion sense and possibly some class. So, the question is what accessory tells you the most about a person and why? There it is Wil

Am I really that bitchy?

Every once in a while it is time for a healthy bit of introspection. A few of my erstwhile friends on this board have suggested that I've been too mean, nasty...bitchy....kind of like a pissed-off Rainbow person. So I thought I'd explore that concept. I think that maybe they're right. I guess my general irritation peaked when I was banned from the board and my warning lights were up to 75% for my role in the unsuccessful Censorship Rebellion (although the warning bars were a weird sort of bad
