Spooky

It’s that time where we stumble over pumpkins everywhere: on the internet, in the grocery shop, and on our neighbor’s giant inflatable witch. Let’s start early with writing about creepy creatures this year.   PT Prompt #305:   Interview with a Vampire? Boring; read the book, wore the t-shirt, watched the movies plus sequels. Yawn. You’re working for a blog, and your boss has the brilliant idea to interview a ghost. She sends you to an allegedly haunted house where y

The crispness of fall is in the air. So if you want to settle back and read what appears to be a great story, check out @spike382's review. Weekly Wrap Up (Aug. 31 - Sept. 6)

What a rollercoaster of a week! 😮  It was a lot of highs , it was a lot of lows . No, I did not borrow this from Dickens . Yet I, and you hopefully made it through it. I, like others have noticed the huge switch has been flipped since we hit September here in my neck of the woods. It seems like it was late June and I was talking about the sun being seen close to 10:30 at night. Now, it is like at 6:15 someone turned the lights out and we all went to bed for the fall and winter  Maybe

Wasn't it just June?

It's starting to feel like Fall here, with a few hot days thrown in.  It's mainly been cool, and the trees have even started to turn.  I love it.  Fall is my favorite time of year, with the beautiful Northeast foliage and cool temps.  It's time to pumpkin spice all the things!     It's also back to school season, which means more traffic and lots of cranky people. Let's write about the beginning of Fall.  PT Prompt #303: You've decided to go back to college at age 40.

The Proof is in the... Creature Feature!

What does the Anthology Proof Team do?  Once your anthology story is finished and edited, then it's time to send it to me so I can assign a Proof Team member to give it a final once-over.  Why do we do this? To ensure that stories meet site guidelines and basic editing standards.  We look for anything the author and their team may have missed - misspelled words, misused words, unintentional grammar mistakes, punctuation.  I have a great team of knowledgeable proofreaders ready to go with their r

September 2025 CSR Feature: Cliff's Pendant by Altimexis

In light of the time of year, the start of the school year for so many from preschool to college, and the nearing deadline of the coming anthology, I wanted to feature a past anthology with a school tag. I plugged in those filters (have you tried that system?!) and viola! This month readers get to enjoy Cliff's Pendant, a short story written by Altimexis for the 2021 Fall Anthology themed "An Unconventional Gift". And if, like me, you're going crazy with your IRL schedule, this is a snack-sized

Weekly Update (Aug.24 - Aug. 30)

Like wowsers  ! Where did the summer go? In my neck of the woods, Labour Day is the unofficial last day of the summer season. Not that we will have a blizzard blowing in on the 2nd, although some people think that happens in Canada  (not naming names) and yet we still have summer weather all month. Just things kind of slow right down. Resorts are quieter, kiddies are back in school, big kiddies are in uni/college/trade school, etc.  I decided to take a work week out of town last week
