I was trying to understand what you stated. Then I come across the following. The example it used, made it easy, even for me to grasp(thanks). That is a wonderfully poetic way to put it! Wordplay—like puns, metaphors, double meanings, and sarcasm—relies on flexibility and reading between the lines, which can feel tenebrous (dark, murky, or hard to understand) to someone who decodes language strictly literally.
