Sorry that you are having to deal with that at work, horrible to deal with on any level.

Already planted onion end of February and have some tomato and pepper planted as of today. Have some cucumber ready to be planted but might try that for tomorrow but will probably leave it for next weekend.

About twenty percent of my Irises have started to bloom already, for some reason almost all are the purple ones, not sure why. Hoping to get some white and red to bloom for Easter Sunday, but we will just have to see what Mother Nature decides.

I have never work on anything quite that large, but have worked on some smaller upgrades and know what a pain in the backside they can be. My condolences.

As far as having a green thumb or a garden, the answer is no on both. If something happened and I had to grow my own food, I would have to treat it like a forced diet or a death watch, because I doubt I could grow enough food to survive. That's pitiful, I know, but I only harvested the garden when I was growing up and never participated in the planning. That was taken care of by the women, because at the time of year we were busy with the livestock and making sure the fences didn't need mending or replacing, and we had a considerable amount of fencing to keep them segregated.

Here in Central Massachusetts, the rule of thumb is planting the garden Memorial Day weekend. I will have started my seeds much earlier in a coldframe outside, or window boxes inside the house. I plant butternut, spagetti and acorn squash. pickling cucumbers, no dill please and thanks, and San Marzano tomatoes, which I will can and eventually turn into spaghetti sauce.

I have eight very mature high-bush blueberry bushes, which give me more than I can reasonably use. I can what I want, the rest I invite friends and neighbors. My rhubarb is turned into sauce and canned as well. I've been known to toss dried cranberries along with strawberries into my rhubarb for jelly and sauce as well. I'm gonna buy a bushel of peaches this summer and see what I can make of them as well!

Love the longer days, outside chores aplenty! If the weather cooperates, in another 2 weeks, next year's firewood will be done!!

The only plants I don't kill are the ones I want to die, the roses outside the house. I run those things over with the lawnmower every year, and they STILL come back. Dug them up and the deeper roots sprout. Damn thorny weeds. Don't care if they're pretty, I don't like 'em! Plus, I hate weeding. Or pinching dead heads on buckets/hanging flowers and watering. It's work. No thanks!

Before my restaurant, I had an herb garden with a few tomato and multiple peppers. But since the beast that consumes most of my life, I have let that go and pretty much don't grow anything except for hostility.

Clucky, cheeky, and nuisance may be words I would use to describe you, my dear. If asked I mean.

As far as gardening, love it. I have flower gardens that have Lilies, roses, lavender, and a few that I've planted and forgot the names of as they're perennial and just need pruning and given space to keep growing and coming back.

I do a Vegetable garden as well. Tomatoes, broccoli, cucumbers, cabbage, pie pumpkins, jack-o-lantern pumpkins, butternut squash, zucchini. I want to start an orchard, likely peach trees. Strawberries and me don't get along, but they seem easy for a lot of people I know, I just can't get optimal harvests out of them. It may be my demand of them that makes me think they're not doing their best.

The only thing I have little to no luck in that I really want are ferns, they're so needy. It seems that if you look at them they die on you so I've given up on them really, but as a backdrop plant they're lovely.

My condolences for all the work that goes into such an upgrade, but if done right and carefully, the benefits will be worth it.

With my knees I don't do much gardening, just throw some annual flower seeds in the flower beds and appreciate whatever grows. Mostly marigolds as the deer don't find them tasty.

I am death to plants. I killed a cactus in a matter of two months. A CACTUS. I was told it was impossible to kill those things...

I am better with outdoor plants, although it's been a long time since I've planted flowers. I used to plant herbs on my porch at my old apartment, but never managed to when I bought my house. Maybe I'll try again one of these days.
