I will tell you that I have every intention of reading the whole thing again as soon as everything is posted. We still have quite a ways to go.

 

I also can't wait until Allen is ready to start posting his other stuff.

Loved the latest chapter .

 

I'm really beginning to have doubt about how much Dalen's mother wants to be in charge. I sort of get the feeling that she may indeed be a puppet for others, maybe the Black Kings or the Priests, to draw Dalen to Haven.

 

Could she really be that cruel?

 

Even Dalen thinks that she is doing what she believes is right for Valdemar, could this be where he is wrong?

 

It was interesting that Dalen lit up a bit when he thought he was going to see Carl again, but there seemed to be no mention of him in the Command Tent. I wonder if the two Companions are hoping to get Dalen and Blake together? I know, maybe I'm just hoping here .

For some reason, and I'm too lazy to go back through all the posts , I was under the impression Allen Smithee was a pseudonym. So imagine after your post of other stories Jan when I found out exactly what the name Allen Smithee meant.

So I guess the mystery of who Allen Smithee actually is will continue to grow. Too bad because I'd really like to thank him for this piece of work, and also know who is really behind it. Hopefully he does pop in here occasionally and sees how much it is being liked.

I'm guessing Dalen would have preferred to see Carl than what he got

Even if I was to find out who Allen Smithee is, I wouldn't reveal it. After all, the author has their reasons for using another name.

Well.. my plans changed for tomorrow. Instead of making you all suffer, I rushed ahead this morning and cleared up some time to... post chapter 22.

I appreciate that Myr. It's going to be a busy weekend for me. There's probably at three other stories for me to read being posted this weekend to read.

 

It looks like Dalen will have some help inside the city. I think Erik recognized him quickly, which is one reason why he pretended to look at the papers.

 

You would think that the Black Kings would have had Mages staged at the gates to the city looking for magic users as they came into the city. It will be interesting to see if Dalen can get past them. Although, I would think the first thing he would do is try to connect to the Heart stone, which should give him the power he needs.

 

I liked the way Allen spelled his name for this trip, Danel.

Pleasantly surprised to see the new chapter up, but the hard work is always appreciated.

I think this chapter is just the preamble for a more hectic ride to come. As I said before looking forward to the confrontation between Dalen & his mother.

Myr usually posts a chapter on Friday or Saturday, so we might have something in the next day or two. With his schedule/plans last week, he posted a chapter early.

Now that was an interesting chapter. Dalen now has control of the heart stone. We've learned Dell's version of what happened and now he can recover. We also know that Bart is at least alive for the moment. I also think that he will be used as a bargaining tool since he is a friend of Dalens.

Agreed, great chapter. Things are starting to unravel now. Black Kings responsible for the assassination, & the heart stone in Dalens control. Things are gonna get very interesting from here on out.

More information came out which explains how exactly the Black Kings have more or less taken over Valdemar. I'm glad that Dalen was able to get Bladric to see the light.

 

Should be really interesting to see how everyone outside the room takes Dalen's demand to be escorted to see his mother.

 

After reading the last couple of chapters, I think we may have a new author to be nominated for a certain category in next years Readers Choice awards .

I think that there really isn't alot the Black Kings (at least the ones outside the room) can do to Dalen if they couldn't break thru his shield when he was using his own power. As Dalen said at Prince's Retreat, once he's keyed into the Heartstone, he has vast amounts of power available to him.

 

It'll be interesting to see if Selenay is genuinely in league with the Black Kings or if they have duped her into the position she's currently in.

 

I think that Bart being selected as Monarch's Own makes it even more likely that Dalen will become the next ruler and it also makes it more likely that they'll be a "match" too.

 

I'm hoping that there's more readership than there are people posting in this thread as this story deserves recognition. This author can easily be a big draw to GA if the rest of his stories are of the same quality as this one.

I would have loved to have been a mouse and been in the room to see the look on Mothers face as Dalen gave her and the Mage the good news.

Great chapter Allen! No update on Bart but otherwise this chapter provided alot of information. I'm going to re-read this in the morning and see what I missed tonight...

 

<Sigh> now I have to wait another week... the only bad part about "Tests of Blood".

Can only echo what's been said, excellent chapter. I do wonder if Dalen has bitten off more than he can chew though, this guy is powerful. Will the Heartstone be enough to overpower him I wonder?

Since Dalen has now informed his mother and the Mage that he is a now a Herald, will they be playing into his hands and place him with the rest of the Heralds? This could be part of his plan, at some point get to the Heralds and get them, and their companions free.

 

I'm sure by this time tho, the Mage had been trying to probe Dalen's defenses. It will be quite interesting to see what they try to do to him.
