Passing was 76 in the Tennessee private school where my wife taught.

It use to be 94 and up as an A, I noticed they dropped everything down a point.

I'm not sure what the rules are in high school, but at the University level we get to set our own grading scales. Regardless, the standard scale even in our public HS is the 90-100 = A, 80-90 = B, 70-80=C, and 60-70=D. We don't talk about below 60. If I plan for my class to be really challenging, I'll sometimes make the range 11 points instead of 10, but usually I just curve the tests/papers instead.
