Site Administrator wildone Posted June 5, 2012 Site Administrator Posted June 5, 2012 Speculation was that with his latest name change, he may have been heading to Eastern Europe or Russia to try to avoid being caught
Y_B Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 We talked about this over dinner tonight, grossly enough. I'm pretty sure my mom made more gay comments than the incident itself.
hh5 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 (edited) I think cannibalism doesn't accurately describe the crime ... dismemberment yes the politicians haven't admitted that fresh Chinese sashimi taste better than what's offer by take out or buffett no politician wants some news hunter to get them admit at a future election that they eaten a foreign student I doubt he had the time to plane an escape route ... its his fault for spending time at the cafe He didn't even consider to find a dismemberment fetish group for a meet up It looks like a terrorist has a better chance of eluding capture than him because they have a plan perhaps he was acting on the experiential thrill ... from little pieces to bigger pieces perhaps we have to worry with all that free time he will have .... what he will he plan on his next hack off if he does it in prison .. we won't know nor care ... if he plans an escape .. the next big crime spree ... do we call on BATMAN!! All will be proven that he nuts and a danger to society .. the speedyness of capture and the tardyness of justice CNN will enjoy a boost in ratings The public is spared from a serial killer If this is found to be a one of crime ... then we hope no more of the foreign students has been served to politians But with the court drama and the damage to the Lin family ... How will society view Gays with a predisposition to BDSM n dismemberment and Fetishes Its not innocent nor sane ... ( Look at Kung Fu Carradine... he strangled for the last thrill ... ppl think how stupid or sick it was to have such a fetish But then no one will remember him ... none of the cable channels held a kung fu marathon in his honor thailand wondering how sick american are to come to their country for strangulation) Back to the porn star, I have no idea what kind of arguments or repercussion will happen from the Chinese Gov't I think the USA will be happy that this didn't happen in our country W_L I think your fav vacation spot is safe ... they prove they can catch the guy Its France that is in question ... I would even be afraid to eat some pette ... I just have the french bread and some fruity wine Agreed, don't make me get back into the soapbox before the right time By the way, does anyone know where this psycho was heading? I've been to Berlin and know the place a little, I doubt that he'd travel half way around the world to go to there (Unless he is so deluded to think the wall hasn't fallen yet). Though, the Chinese population has grown tremendously by what I heard and saw in the city, which is kind of creepy that a few months ago, a serial killer might have been staking out places where I had my trip. Also, it's such an American thing to be traveling by air in Europe, the HoF in Germany is far superior to the airlines like Lufthansa in my opinion, unless he was heading towards a foreign location outside the train network. PrivateTim Posted June 5, 2012 Author Posted June 5, 2012 On the positive side, yes, Canada is doing something.... He will be tried for first degree murder which carries a 25 year sentence with no chance of parole. Also, due to his heinous crimes the Crown will be applying for (and should easily get) a Dangerous Offender Status for him which will mean that he will never see the light of day. Yes, capital punishment probably would be justified for his actions but at least he will never do them again. So are you saying 25 years is the max penalty in Canada? Can they give non-concurrent sentences for multiple crimes? Besides the murder, he dismembered the body, mailed pieces about the country, tortured kittens, etc. If that isn't deserving of more than 25 years, the Canuks need to rethink some things.
hh5 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 (edited) I guess you can read up on canada top ten serial killers http://socyberty.com...serial-killers/ for answers but I really think this is a new variation of the crime that may give notoriety but the other issue is that there was only on human victim ... not as bad a numerous killings I am not sure what would happen if to son of sam under canadian law but most of the ppl would only care he's put away for good So are you saying 25 years is the max penalty in Canada? JamesSavik Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 *Sighs* Why did he have to be gay? Why couldn't he have been a freakin' Methodist layman like the BTK killer?' All of the usual nutjobs will say SEE! That's what they are all REALLY like when they aren't behaving. 1
W_L Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Now I remember the name I forgot, Jeffrey Dahmer, the US serial killer, who target gay men. This guy just rings of the M.O right down to the dismemberment and necrophilia. James, I don't think people will see this as a reflection on gay guys as let's face it, the victim was also gay (unless you want to separate gay guys into groups with the bottoms being the least likely to go nuts ).
hh5 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 (edited) oh found an article that details the incident a bit more but it doesn't tell about the family position in the matter that their son was gay http://www.fox8live....chinese-student but its an interesting read about the killers neighbors take on the situation Edited June 5, 2012 by hh5
Sympathia Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 there one hang up in the extradition ... canada doesn't have capital punishment and I think Germany does No capital punishment in Germany.
hh5 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 pity send him to china!! No capital punishment in Germany.
Sympathia Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 As horrible as his crime is, capital punishment is just as bad.
Site Administrator wildone Posted June 5, 2012 Site Administrator Posted June 5, 2012 So are you saying 25 years is the max penalty in Canada? Can they give non-concurrent sentences for multiple crimes? Besides the murder, he dismembered the body, mailed pieces about the country, tortured kittens, etc. If that isn't deserving of more than 25 years, the Canuks need to rethink some things. All sentences are served concurrently in Canada. Up until the last couple of decades (not sure when it was taken out) a person who was given a life sentence (the maximum available) for 25 years, there was a faint hope clause which allowed the convicted to ask for parole I believe after 10 years and every year after. This is no longer a option. Conviction of 1st degree murder is now a maximum of 25 years with no chance of parole. In addition, there is the ability of the Crown to have the convict deemed a Dangerous Offender which would make his stay indefinite. Combine the murder, the mutilation and mailing of the body parts, the kittens and what ever else is against him, he most likely will never see outside prison. He will join the likes of Paul Bernardo, Clifford Olson, and Robert Pickton who all will most likely die in prison. Please Note: I answered the questions to Private Tim's question about how the law is in Canada. Continued comments about the pro's and con's of countries justice system and the pro's and con's of capital punishment do not belong in the Lounge. Please feel free to start up those conversations in the Soapbox.
Site Administrator wildone Posted June 6, 2012 Site Administrator Posted June 6, 2012 Two packages arrived at two Vancouver schools and when opened contained a hand and a foot. ...and the saga goes on
W_L Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 I thought the PM said that Canada's postal system was inspecting the packages to prevent any more body parts from appearing in the mail. I hope no kids saw the severed limbs or else they will be scarred for life.
Benji Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 (edited) As horrible as his crime is, capital punishment is just as bad. You know what, in certain instances I believe society needs to be protected against the likes of these from ever being released back into the public to re-do their fantasy crimes. How can you atoll the life of one that had no indifference on another? I doubt it was his first, I think it was his first videoed and sent on the net. Edited June 22, 2012 by Benji
hh5 Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Its surprising the post man or workers didn't notice the stench. I thought the PM said that Canada's postal system was inspecting the packages to prevent any more body parts from appearing in the mail. I hope no kids saw the severed limbs or else they will be scarred for life. It looks like family members must know Lin is gay. Huang said members of Lin’s family, who live in China, are expected to visit him at his shop in the coming days. He's been accused of being a murderer, a decapitator, a cannibal, a necrophilic and a kitten killer, and now a report has surfaced suggesting Luka Magnotta may be a white supremacist. If not, he certainly had some white supremacist fans. http://www.torontosun.com/2012/06/01/magnotta-linked-to-white-supremacist-site A Little background on Lin. He was also brave. Despite the conservatism of Chinese society – where homosexuality was considered a mental illness as recently as 2001 – he was openly and seemingly proudly gay. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/the-darker-side-of-dismemberment-victim-lin-jun/article4226195/?cmpid=rss1
Sympathia Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 You know what, in certain instances I beleive capital punishment is warranted, society needs to be protected against the likes of these from ever being released back into the public to re-do their fantasy crimes. How can you atoll the life of one that had no indifference on another? Why should his life continue after taking another with the vileness he displayed, I doubt it was his first, I think it was his first videoed and sent on the net. He had no compassion for his victim, why should we have any for him? We can not claim to hold human life sacroscant and then turn around and order one terminated, its hypocrisy of the highest order in my opinion. Just as we wont tolerate somebody running about killing people, our justice system shouldnt be deciding to end somebodies life either. Yes there are some extremely bad people around that we all agree we might be better off without, but what about THEIR stories? What led them to become what they are, did we as a society miss any signs, could we have helped?
W_L Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 (edited) Cap punishment debate in soap please, As for lin, i can sympathize, the Chinese view a man's place in society as the carrier of the name and lineage. To be openly gay basically throw centuries of traditions out and make an enemy of many family members. It takes alot of courage or planning. Edited June 6, 2012 by W_L

hh5 Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 (edited) I stand corrected ... cannibalism did happen ... the news found evidence Lin struggled to come to canada for his dream and future ... but his important goal/dream is "to find love" (the news article seem to say he didn't have help from his family ... it only talks about his struggle) instead doom found him ... i can relate to all that ... doom comes in different forms ... there is no justice .. no karma ... its only luck that the crime is recognized n capture\arrest happens so in death ... Lin got justice ... tragic price to pay The response by the chinese gov't warning its ppl going overseas is a good rsp People do need to re-think or factor in safety ... There is a lot of bad in the world ... and justice cost money to pursue it most ppl don't want their lives to revolve around the cost to their lives As for lin, i can sympathize, the Chinese view a man's place in society as the carrier of the name and lineage. To be openly gay basically throw centuries of traditions out and make an enemy of many family members. It takes alot of courage or planning. Edited June 6, 2012 by hh5
hh5 Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 (edited) canadian police are now checking into unsolved cases that fit the MO "The suspect is present on more than 70 Facebook pages," he told reporters Wednesday. "He maintained more than 70 Facebook pages under different names. So he was very, very, very active on the web." If the remains found in Vancouver are confirmed to be Lin’s, the only missing part of his body would be his head, which could have been mailed according to Montreal police. hh5 Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 is facebook really this immoral to keep bad content or ppl online ... to let them continue to do bad things is it to own this profiling n sell the data to govt? but we see it as wrong? some social media Fans, defenders line up to support ‘inspirational’ Luka Rocco Magnotta on Facebook
