Popular Post Kitt Posted August 5, 2020 Popular Post Posted August 5, 2020 Hey gang. Storm is gone and a beautifully sunny day in store, with cooler temps and lower humidity. Still no power, with no estimates when we will get it back, but thats ok, right? We have a generator for just such emergencies we fired up yesterday. Ran great, fridge and freezer are happy campers. Or were.shut the genie down at bedtime, and when we went to start it again this am its seized tight. And of course with an 18 hour head start there is not a generator left in stores around here. So much for emergency preparedness! 8
Popular Post rickproehl Posted August 5, 2020 Popular Post Posted August 5, 2020 Excuse me Good Sirs and DiC friends. just wanted to stop in and say Good Morning I ordered Chinese from a local place (I won't name them) went to pick it up and as I was driving home, heard the bags rustling and moving!!! I thought what on earth is that? Has something gotten into the bag? I thought I could see a little pair of eyes peering out. I was driving so pulled over, I leaned forward, picked up the bag, put it on the passenger seat and there it was again, more rustling and little eyes looking out behind the ginger beef, I thought its got to be a rat or a mouse or something, so I carefully pulled the bag down ... And there it was ... Spoiler ... A Peeking Duck!!! Have a Fun Wednesday 7

Site Moderator Popular Post Reader1810 Posted August 5, 2020 Site Moderator Popular Post Posted August 5, 2020 What a change in the weather! From temps in the 80s (29C)and 90s (33C)feel like 100+ to 70F (21C) today is quite something. Then there’s all the rain the last few days 12 cm (4 inches) it’s like a different world. And yes, I was outside wearing shorts, and with the breeze, found it to be a little nippy. Nice and refreshing though, and that you can’t beat. 3 4

Popular Post kbois Posted August 5, 2020 Popular Post Posted August 5, 2020 I'm rather proud if myself today. I've started my mandatory Wednesday's working at our other property with the manager that no one can stand. Our head maintenance man had just about had it with her and is ready to quit. We have the regional manager here from Chicago, plus a manager trainee that will be working at a new property on the east coast. The regional manager has been here about a month and he's a type A personality to the extreme. Ten minutes with him and you're exhausted. I just kept quiet, inwardly rolled my eyes everytime she called me 'honey' and escaped as soon ad I could. The new manager trainee asked me "How do stand it?" I just kinda shrugged, what else can one do? Gotta go back over for the annual safety meeting tomorrow, [don't run with scissors, don't play with fire, keep long hair away from the shredder]. At least they're feeding us lunch! Hope everyone else is having a good day! 6

At least they're feeding us lunch! You crack me up! Did I ever tell you about the time one of those old time printer cartridges (back in the early 90s) that held loose printer powder decided it was a good day to explode? No, well let me tell you. Yep, you guessed it, I was directly in the line of fire! I looked like a chimney sweep from head to toe. Thank goodness I was wearing dark clothing. And, double luckily, the lab was closed to patients that day (my desk, and hence the printer, were in the patient waiting room), but the nurse I worked with sure had a good laugh. 6

I came close a few times with those old cartridges, managed to drop one all over the floor, but my best work 'mishap' was my first job. I worked at Carvel (the ice cream store), uniform was white pants with white company polo. I had the seam on a 5 GALLON bag of chocolate mix split as I was lifting it up to pour into the hopper on the machine. I pretty much was covered from head to toe in what was the equivalent of thick chocolate milk. Took a few hours to clean the machine and the floor. My mom damn near had a heart attack when I walked in the door. My dad laughed. 6
Popular Post Fae Briona Posted August 5, 2020 Popular Post Posted August 5, 2020 (edited) Was an aggravating day for me today. Actually had a small bit of Scotch when I got home, which isn't normal. Had some storms overnight but we still have power. Only got 0.7 inches here but some areas not to far away got almost 6 inches in just a couple of hours. I'm sorry you're having problems @Kitt. Hope the generator gets working. Weather has been weird. Saturday will be the first time in just over three weeks we've reached our normal average high -- at a time of year when we should be the hottest. Edited August 5, 2020 by Fae Briona 6

New generator is up and running. Got a larger one this time so we can do a bit more, like charge phones etc. Without needing to unplug refrigeration. Think in the am we will try tv and cable box to get the local news. On a wonderful note, the utility says they hope to have power restored by midnight next Tuesday. Yes you read that right, Tuesday 8/11 1 5 2
