Site Administrator Popular Post Valkyrie Posted February 11, 2021 Site Administrator Popular Post Posted February 11, 2021 (edited) Well my dentist appointment went well, despite almost not making it there I couldn't get my garage door open. I think the batteries in the remote went. And of course, the other remote was in the car. In the garage. Which I couldn't open. I eventually found the code to the keypad and was able to make the appointment and was only about 10 mins late. The good news is that everything looks great Edited February 11, 2021 by Valkyrie 2 5

The good news is that everything looks great Glad everything worked out in the end, and your teeth got the thumbs up from the dentist. I've had a similar problem with keys in the past. When I was renting, before buying this place, I walked out the front door one day and let it close to, and lock, behind me. Checking my pockets I realised I had left my car key on the kitchen table. Checking my pockets again, I realised I had also left the house key inside the house. I always keep a spare house key in the car. Trouble was, the car was locked and the key was in the locked house. I finished up having to find a large stone to break one of the two windows in the front door, so I could reach in and release the lock from the inside. That window needed boarding up for a few days, until I could get a new pane of glass to fit into the door. I have a spare key left with a trusted neighbour these days. 2 5

Both garage door remotes will now reside inside the house instead of keeping one in the car. And I'll keep the door code handy because you know I'll forget it. 5 1

Popular Post Marty Posted February 11, 2021 Popular Post Posted February 11, 2021 I got a bit more done on the boundary hedge today, after doing nothing yesterday due to the doctor's appointment followed by meeting a friend in the afternoon. Here's how the hedge looked just before dark this evening: The ivy-clad wall at the left hand edge of this photo is the corner of the gable wall of the neighbouring cottage. I reckon two more days should see the last of the hedge removed. There's a few bushes (mainly box) growing on the bank on the other side of the hedge. I'll head out and tidy those up once I have finished clearing the hedge on the inside of the garden. I'll maybe also take a photo from outside when the work is finished. Then will come the big tidy-up as I gather up all the branches, and finally have my bonfire. 1 7

If he/she says they are essential, perhaps you can get the decision overturned... Albert sorry I didn't address this earlier, my head is being troublesome. Talk with your doctor about this. When I was on Medicaid I had to justify certain of my migraine meds before they would pay for them. Now every year when the doc writes the new prescription I have to go through the process of justifying my Ajovy injections in order for my Medicare drug plan to pay part of the cost. Your doc should help with this. 1 5

Popular Post dughlas Posted February 11, 2021 Popular Post Posted February 11, 2021 G'day y'all. Twas a foggy dew this morn. The fog eventually cleared to reveal bright sunshine and a blue sky. Mum and I ran a few errands this morning, trip to the bank, the grocery for something I forgot during yesterday's shopping and then a stop at a local nursery just to walk around and enjoy the day. Thistle really enjoys wandering around greenhouses and nurseries so it was a treat for all of us. I bought a packet of snow pea seeds to plant along side the house. On the way home we stopped at Starbucks for coffee. When we got home we talked about what a lovely spring day it was. Bright sunshine and warm temp, 62/16°. We decided since the forecast for the next several days was to be chilly and wet we should do something outdoors so we hopped in the car and went to a nearby complex that features shops and eateries in a common area surrounded by homes and a large park and recreational area. Mum stopped at Barnes & Nobles to buy a couple books while Thistle and I made the 1+ mile trek around the pond. By the time we finished it was early afternoon so I suggested we get lunch at one of the eateries that features outside dining. They specialise in crepes and paninis. Mum had a veggie panini with a bowl of chicken vegetable soup and I had a bratwurst sandwich with pommes frites. By the time we finished dark clouds had filled the sky. We had a wonderful time out. Now we're all resting. Mum is downstairs reading and the pup and I are resting in my room. My head aches ... 1 7

So I made poached eggs on toast, and followed it with a fairly thick slice of a banana loaf I made last night. 2 5

Popular Post Marty Posted February 11, 2021 Popular Post Posted February 11, 2021 (edited) I managed to renew my driving licence online this morning. I needed to scan in the official Medical Report Form that my doctor filled in yesterday, and upload it as part of the online process. I got an email from the National Driver Licence Service, sent just before 6:00pm, to say that everything is in order and they will post a new driving licence out to me. They do warn that it may be as long as 15 working days (3 weeks) before it arrives. Apparently mail can take that long just at the moment, due to Covid. I'm not sure, but I suspect the Post Office may be quarantining mail after receiving it, before actually delivering it on. I'll print out the email and keep it in the car - just in case I get stopped by the Gardaí (Irish police) in the meantime, and need to show them my licence. Interesting thing is that, although I don't have to pay for the new licence (because I am over 70), my doctor charged me €40 for the medical exam and filling out the form. Even though I have a Medical Card, which should mean I get to see him for free. Apparently, this medical examination (for the driving licence) is not covered by the medical card. Also, because I'm now over 70, I have to renew my driving licence every three years. Edited February 11, 2021 by Marty Tidying up 6
