You know it's cold out because both cats are snuggled up, one on each arm. Been a bit busy for the past few weeks, but I'll try and at least show my face on the odd occasion over the festive season. Good to hear from you, Marty. 5

The vast majority of the fires are on the other side of the country. There have been several fires near me but nothing compared to the millions of hectares destroyed in the eastern states. That being said, there are fires all across Western Australia - we are one third of the continent, about the same size as one third of continental US. The map is covered in 51 fires, luckily all at advice level. There is a total fire ban in place that has been running for a couple of weeks. The closest fire is currently 20km away although a fire alarm has gone off at one of the primary schools 7km away. Currently safe, subject to the usual fire season changes 2 2 3

Fingers crossed they don't lose their houses, but at least they're safe. There are some hassles with the roads. Some of the main highways have been closed. Keeping fingers crossed for them 4 1 2
