Interestingly this announcement was made by Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) Leo Varadkar whilst on a visit to the USA as part of the annual exodus of Government ministers to the USA to celebrate St. Patrick's Day (although fewer than usual have travelled this year, but this may be in part due to the fact that we currently only have a caretaker government following a recent general election).

I also read in The Journal that President Trump is suspending all travel between the US and Europe for 30 days from tomorrow, but that this doesn't include the UK or Ireland.

We're over 1 200 here in France and 48 deaths. The president will make a public statement tonight, possibly upgrading the restrictions to stage 3 like in Italy

My sister lives in West Virginia and they are still at 0 confirmed cases.  My sister says it's "redneck immunity ".

Or it could be because no one leaves and no one visits...   Although, I've heard it's beautiful in the countryside. Is that so ?

West Virginia has gorgeous scenery.  However my sister sent me a picture of a deer that her neighbors had killed, skinned and then hung outside (because of the cold).  So you get that too.

There aren't any confirmed cases here yet, although there is one in Rochester now. It's just a matter of time before it reaches here.  There are 216 confirmed cases in New York State.  I'm not sure how many fatalities.    

Edited to add:  Scratch that.  112 more cases since yesterday, so 328.

Holy 💩! The president just said all day cares, schools, and universities will be closed until further notice starting tomorrow!

All not important surgeries will be move to later when the crisis will be over.

Students in medical fields are invited to help in call centers, students in other fields are invited to offer their service to babysit kids so that the parents can work.

So far in Nevada we have been lucky so far and only have 7 cases Were very dry here which makes transmission

difficult

Some people are actually buying as much TP as they can, planning on selling it for MUCH greater than the market value when supplies are low.
