Today's breakfast was one of those occasions. 5 2

I asked him one time why he doesn't just ask for two white puddings, instead of the standard one black and one white. He claims he doesn't because he would miss the look of pure enjoyment on my face when he passes over the black pudding to me... Spoiler The main difference between black pudding and white pudding is that black pudding has pig's blood added to it. Edited August 31, 2020 by Marty 1 6

You know me so well, bro! And I also usually bring my thermos flask with me to a hotel breakfast as well. And fill it with either freshly brewed coffee or chilled orange juice (depending on the weather), to help wash down the apple (and banana) I picked up for lunch. Today's breakfast was one of those occasions. That's what mum says too. In her younger days mum had a weight issue. During her nurse's training she lost the weight and never regained it. The majority of her nursing was as office nurse for doctor's in private practice. In addition to nursing she also acted as a dietitian helping patients establish healthy eating. She said if you deprive yourself of something you really enjoy you're more likely to eventually binge on it. Better to make it an occasional treat. 6

Popular Post dughlas Posted August 31, 2020 Popular Post Posted August 31, 2020 G'day y'all what a difference a few days make. Last week we had temps in excess of 90/32° with extreme humidity. Currently it's 69/21° with moderate humidity and overcast. The forecast is calling for rain later today and overnight. I mowed my yard this morning after pruning the pines to avoid the need to duck my head repeatedly during said mowing. I learned this morning that the lady nextdoor has tested positive for COVID. She started feeling poorly the end of last week and was tested. She began to feel better over the weekend and feels okay today but must remain in quarantine until September 5th. Her husband who has no symptoms must quarantine for the next 10 days. He was told they will not test him unless he shows symptoms. Fortunately my interactions with them have been limited to infrequent across the yard chats so I'm not concerned. Blessed be. 2 5

Do you need to add pectin to get it to gel? I did wonder the same, myself. Apple, gooseberries, and blackcurrants are good sources of natural pectin. I reckon apple would probably be best for watermelon jam, as it shouldn't mask its delicate flavour too much. I often add a little grated apple when I am making the likes of raspberry jam. Of course, you could use jam making sugar, which has added pectin. But (a) it's far more expensive than simple granulated sugar, and (b) I like to know the origin of the ingredients I add to my recipes. Edited August 31, 2020 by Marty Correction 2 4
