Well, I'm now back in the house, having spent the last hour or so planting my winter onion sets in the drizzle. I had temporarily to lay down planks to stand on, so to avoid compacting the wet soil too much as I was working. But I really wanted to get the small sets into the ground before the soil temperature drops that much that they wouldn't be able to break their dormancy before that happens. The danger then would be that they would simply rot before the soil warms up again in the spring.

I've actually a bag of daffodil (narcissus) bulbs that I bought over a month ago that I really should get planted in the next few weeks as well. Typical of me, I stuck the unopened bag into the outside storage area and then promptly forgot about it...  

Anyway, I need a cup of hot coffee and a bite to eat before I do anything else.

Oh that remind me I too have a bag of daffodils bulbs. Except they've been rolling around in the trunk of the car for over a month
