[DomLuka] What can I read in the meantime?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm a big fan of Dom's stories. I think they are great, well-written, interesting and do not underestimate the reader; they're not difficult to read, I'm just saying there is intelligence to the writing. So far I've read everything on his page; The Ordinary Us and The Log Way are my favourite stories. I am obviously following In the Fish Bowl closely, but, while I wait for the next chapter, what can I read? I've tried to surf the net and read random stories but they are either too preachy, or with characters who have no credibility at all (just soft porn), or the writing style is plain bad and too repetitive. In other words, reading what is out there has made me appreciate Dom even more. Maybe this topic has already been addressed, but what do Dom fans recommend?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Net fiction is a strange thing. Some of it is worth exactly what you pay for it. Then there is some minority of net fiction that is absolutely priceless. This means that you have to sift through a lot of silt to find the gems.

Now I enjoy a little eros as much as the next guy but that is NOT what makes a good story IMHO. Dom's work is an excellent example of sex being an important part of the plot, just not the whole plot. This is the kind of story that I like and gravitate toward.

I'll do you a favor and give you a heads up on a few of the net's best authors here and elsewhere. This is by NO means all of them and if I leave any out, I mean no offense.

Some may argue that Driver's stories may well be some of the best there has ever been. I'm not in that camp but there is no doubt that the force is exceptionally strong with Driver. He is a master.

If you haven't discovered Comicality here at gayauthors.org, WTF are you standing around for? Go to Comicality's Shack Out Back forthwith knave or thou art a slacker. Luv ya Cosmie! :)

Another highly respected net author and one of the true masters of the art is Dewey, author of the classic Brian & Pete series.

Dewey's site [and Awesomedude.com] are also home to the Awesome Aussie Graeme. He is the author of New Brother, Falls Creek Lessons and about a zillion short stories: a form that he excels at.

Speaking of Awesomedude.com, it is the home to a battalion of talented writers- both newcomers and veterans. Freethinker, Graeme, WritesByHimself, EleCivil, RusticMonk, PecMan, Jamie of Icaria and a few dozen more are hosted at the venerable Dude's place. Of special note at AD's place are Jamie author of the Wizard of Icaria series and EleCivil: a very talented young author who is pounding out pure gold.

Departed from the net but by no means forgotten is the beloved Eggman: author of A New Life and Life Goes On. These gentle good-natured coming of age stories set sunny southern California are literally loved by thousands. His work can still be found in his yahoo groups theGlassOnionNews or in the Nifty Prolific Authors Page

A lot of people dearly love Grasshopper and I can understand that. He's quite good but he is very young. I expect that his best work is in front of him. I don't have a link to his work handy but I'm sure a kind soul here can supply it.

Gay Authors has a powerful stable of authors. You can dive off into any of the authors works without reservations: Vance Lista, Little Buddha, Myr, dkstories, Ghost Rider, Jack Scribe, Luc, Christopher Lyton, the Zot... Pick any one of them and and you won't be disappointed.

That ought to keep you busy for a few months.

Have fun & enjoy!
