Thank you Cole! Couldn't do this without your help.
  7. Dear Zach. I have to start somewhere, so why not with the day I met Ren for the first time at my friend Chris’s house. Chris wanted to show me something, but hadn’t said what. As soon as I was through the front door, he grabbed my arm, dragging me into the living room where he pushed me onto the couch. "All right, Jonah, sit here and tell me what you think, okay? Be honest.” He rubbed his hands against his thighs and, when he noticed what he was doing, pushed them into his back pockets. “You k

    Prologue

'Last call for flight Condor 7365 to Brussels. Boarding at gate number D91.' My friend Ruth once told me a good way to fully understand an issue is to explain it to somebody else. Doing this can reveal even complex interconnections, often together with the solution to said problem. Who was I to contradict a well-educated and eloquent specialist? Not me. I didn’t tell a real person though; I typed it up on my laptop. My laptop named Zach. Yeah I know, I'm pathetic. 'May I have your attention
  9. Come meet quirky, irrational, impulsive Jonah, who runs when life gets complicated. This time he is in Sicily, Italy. What else? Oh yes. He talks to Zach, his imaginary laptop friend, collects people who want to take care of him, as well as slightly possessive, manipulative boyfriends. Time for a change.
  10. Happy Birthday Dave. Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag!
  11. Maybe, if you throw her a tea party.
  12. "Well, that's nice." "What?" "Dog slobber all over my shirt."
  13. I love writing flash fiction, prompts and anthology stories. A few words, a phrase, a photo is enough to see a certain scene, hear a dialog and I start writing. And then comes the 'cut, cut, cut', to carve out the idea, make it clearer or more intense, put a spot light on it. I love doing that also. Sometimes these short stories even can be jigsaw pieces, put them together and you have a new story. Ben plays Frisbee with his dog. His brother is grumpy. (10 words)
  14. I am one of the bad guys from the other side of the canal. Why? Because I am a committed European, who eventually wants a strong united Europe similar to the United States of America: single currency, a parliament which is not continuously challenged and hindered by egotistical demands of single member nations, and so on. Even if it is still a long way to go. Guess who's always pissing on my parade? There are dire warnings by European banks and CEO's about what would happen if Scotland would be independent. These warnings are even more dire if the UK would leave the EU. So I have to admit, all rational reasons aside, I am looking at the feeble and very late attempts of the no campaign with a certain degree of schadenfreude. And we all have our own Euros, with our own little pictures that represent our countries and are happily mixing them. I'm still excited when I have Euros from France, or Italy, or Spain, or Greece, or...Scotland? Maybe next time Britain votes, they vote with rational reason. Wouldn't it be great if they'd learned something from their Scotland disaster?
  15. And in games. Mass Effect 1-3, Dragon Age 1,2 and probably 3 to name a few.

    Chapter 1

You don't know how many times I started to read this and then stopped again. Today I managed to finally read the whole piece. To abuse a child is so wrong, still it happens all the time. With this story you showed us some of the consequences from child abuse. Having difficulties to interact with others normally is one of them. Often more abuse follows. You did a great job with this story, Wayne.
  17. Most of the times I think so also. Thank you for reading and reviewing. And thanks for the *hug*
  18. Thank YOU for reading!
  19. Thank you Gary, for every understanding word you wrote. It's really appreciated.
  20. Thank you Percy. Writing this helped me to sort through my emotions. I've been uncertain to submit the story and I'm glad it was so well received.
  21. Thank you for your kind words, Cole. Writing this helped, as did reading all your comments. You encouraged me to post it, I'm glad.
  22. Yes, that's why I wrote the warning. Not everybody likes to read this kind of story. The reason for their grudge felt unimportant in the face of what was happening. And I know he will be in touch because he said: I see a core of steel and I fear what will happen when it shatters. If it does, I guess then it’s our turn. Thank you for your comment, Timothy.
  23. I wrote a whole paragraph about the reason for their disagreement, but when I read it again it seemed to be superfluous. It didn't matter anymore, there were more important things now. The fight and its reasons were forgotten.Thank you for your comment, Bill.

    Emergence

I never liked the name Harold. Sorry to all the Harolds out there. The demolition of the house was a strong symbol. Something horrible and ugly ended, it even made space for something new and beautiful. Great story Valkyrie.

    Story

It's been a wonderful family tradition, but what I really liked was that Tyler and Ean made something good out of the bad news and started their own tree.
