Thank you for fixing the error - made it possible to hit the like button without a hellish scroll. Thinking it over, Declan should send the video to Bailey and tell him he's gone to the Dean with the story. At least, this way Bailey will be prepared.

It was sad but cathartic for both of them. Bobby needed to know he betrayed his friend and even worse - he did nothing to make amends. Even if he didn't wound him on purpose, or 'only' hurt him indirectly by letting the opinion and bias of other people direct his actions, Bobby should still have seen the hurt in his best friend and tried to reach out. But this may actually be the first time Bobby has faced up to the terrible hurt and rejection St.John suffered, the first time he's had to admit his friend was devastated by the events and mistakes and suspicious minds, and he did nothing to help. So yes, I agree the words "I forgive you" matter. But they cannot be said until the other party says "I'm sorry you were hurt." No qualifiers like 'I was hurt too. It wasn't my fault. You attacked me first. It was a mistake. Other people misled me.' or all the other things we use to justify our actions. Even if they are all true. We need to keep them inside our heads or talk to someone else (a friend, a therapist, a trusted family member). True remorse and true forgiving always start with the words: "I'm sorry you were hurt. I apologize." Very, very difficult words to say. Bobby needs to express this more than St.John let him, but that will be for later. Right now they are in each other's arms and the mood is loving and forgiving. For that I'm grateful.

I think this may be one of the best Afterglow scenes I've read. So much love and humor and honesty, and I loved the small nod back to the first part of this story with the holding out his hand memory. Like others have said, it's nice to see mature love, to think there is someone out there for you no matter your age. Oh, it's no guarantee but if your mind isn't open to the possibility, then it definitely won't happen. With this story you're indulging our need to believe in miracles. My only complaint is to find this part also labeled Complete, as I was hoping for a few more chapters - you know about the 'logistics' of living together and 'freaky' behavior and romance talking which you do so beautifully.

Sorry I'm late with commenting. I loved this installment where they are slowly saying goodbye to the past and welcoming the future. I'm glad they admitted to love, even though Maurice had to be firm with David talking around the topic. Oh and this line had me “If I want? If I want? Are you kidding me? I’ve been a walking hard-on for a month. Let’s go before you change your mind.”

Hey Carlos, I just wanted to ask if the Castile case was on your mind when you wrote this chapter? I just saw the officer was acquitted which caused protests (was even mentioned on the Danish news). I have no opinion on the specific case, but I can understand why Yavonny was nervous, so I simply wondered if you were inspired to include this situation by recent cases.

Declan did the right thing, but he should have gone back to the Dean at once. He needs to be at the Dean's or the Headmaster's office first thing tomorrow in order to hand over his phone evidence and to warn him about Bailey not wanting this to come out in the open.

He's not being a pussy, but perhaps his vulnerability right now is either making him more sensitive to hidden malice or he's imagining things with the brat. My bet would be on the first option. Talking to JP asap would be a good idea - for all the reasons named.

The Danish verb 'drage' is more commonly used with the meaning journey or wander,, but it can also mean draw in the sense of haul or pull something towards you. Draft horse is translated to trækhest and træk = pull. So i guess it has nothing to do with draft of beer. The reason I asked is because the nickname bryghest came from the horses pulling (Carlsberg) beer wagons in Copenhagen. Apparently these horses are descendants of the original sturdy Jutland horses (Jydske heste) that in turn came from historic riding horses descending from bronze age horses.

Thanks for giving me the English name for these. Does it come from them pulling beer wagons (as in draft of beer), or is it the other way round?

I'll have to google that. It sounds like the Danish Tarok, who was so popular in the 1970'ies that all of Denmark mourned his much too early death in 1981. He ran in the World Cup Derby on Roosevelt Raceway in 1977, but didn't place. He was called Dannebrog on four legs (Dannebrog is the name of the Danish flag). There was even a movie made in 2013, but it mostly flopped. I found a few pictures of the horse.

1. Yes, I've copied from Word without problems, and things like italics or footnotes transfer without problems. In the old system I'd take story and chapter notes via NotePad, since they often got messed up if transferred directly, and then I'd do the italics or whatever afterwards. I do the same now, just to be sure. 2. I don't change fonts or font size, so I cannot answer this. As I understand it we shouldn't change font size, because readers can do that with the + button if they need to.
