  1. I'm glad I've improved your opinion about Rob. He may be a dominant older brother and high-status jock, but he does respect territories, and the GSA is Nelson and Eric's turf as far as Rob is concerned. Thus the need to get their approval. Of course, their dad may have helped Rob see how Eric feels, but the fact that he cares about him enough for it to matter is due to Rob alone.
  2. Thanks Drew, I'm looking forward to your comments on the chapters posted so far. You've hit the nail on the head. The main purpose of this story is to show how Russ slowly changes his views about himself and people around him. And yes the physical changes are the least of it, his mental restraints have been a lot more inhibiting and will take longer to lose. But he'll get there eventually, with help from Jacob and others.

    Chapter 56

In spite of moaning over at the forum I actually think this was a good place to end the chapter. We were feeling down about the Leopards being behind on goals, but Peter's peptalk has raised our hopes back up. I'm confident they will give those dogs a fight till the end. But I'd still like the next chapter early. The Kevin incident was interesting, and I hope Joe can turn it round to Kevin's advantage in relation to the Swans. Quick thinking by Evelyn and Clarissa, I'm impressed. I guess the young generation is quick to use their phones, and good thing too. Violent idiots (whether thugs or police) are not getting away with it anymore. But I'm disappointed the security people let the bigots get away, they should have handed them over to the police for hate crime and for assault. Mary certainly had more eye openers at this game, and hopefully Jessica's points will make Neil's mum reconsider her stance on gay people. I liked the kind but firm way she told Mary that her lack of acceptance paves the way for her boy to be hurt by others. Very clever, Graeme. Is Neil the only runner they have? He seems to be getting all the action or at least the important and complex ones. But I laughed about Steven feeling jealous, nice little revenge and Doug played right along with Liam.
  4. "Lincoln is a stand-up guy," still makes me chuckle as I visualize a stand-up comedian. The whole statement has me cringing, even though I recognize the need for it and Mrs. Shaw's determination to do right. But that such sentimental pleading is necessary makes me feel ;pinch: both on behalf of Dr. K and Linc. Let's hope it does the trick but somehow I doubt it. I'm wholly on the side of Jack when he call his mom on not going back to the motel to sleep. Why can't she see that if she had asked Lincoln to make sure Jack ate some food, then all of them would have been better off? She would have gotten some much needed sleep, Linc would have felt useful and Jack would have had the man he loves to distract him while eating. She is selfish in her devotion to her sick child and this might be what drove Jack's siblings to hate him - and probably her too. But I suppose she does it with the best intentions and from love, so I shouldn't judge her too harshly.
  5. You're right, Gary. Rob is more than just an impulsive jock with a heart of gold. He has a lot of 'social' intelligence, meaning he reads people well and knows how to act to have things going his way. His father has helped him see why and how, but he had the instincts already. However, I think you'll find that so far his real insights are confined to his brother (even though he'd begun to tire of his girlfriend). But this it what Mr. Perry wants to change, he wants Rob to expand his understanding of human dynamics and motives during college. Of the choices as I understand them, I think Rob and Eric's dad prefer the GSA to a Frat Society.
  6. Rob's been thoughtful = considerate during the whole story, so what's the difference? And anyway why do you think Rob is aware of Eric's issues? If he actually is, because this was Nelson's interpretation. But you sort of give the answer in your next comment. I have no idea who Mr. Perry reminds you of, please tell me.
  7. Thanks for the feature, Renee, it's fun to see such a diversity of prompts.
  8. LOL, yeah this has become more about Rob than Nelson and Eric. But luckily Rob will graduate and leave for college soon - although with the pace of this story, I'll have written 100 chapters before we get this far. I don't think Rob could ever resent Eric, it's not in his nature. But being protective is, and his parents approve but would like him to widen his scope. Other motives are there too, and yes, we'll get to know about them. You may come to regret it if Rob joins the GSA, since you'll have to carry me through on a subject I know nothing about. (As you've already found out )
  9. Thanks dugh, I'm partial to Nelson's POV too, and the next chapter will be the same. You hit on an important motive. Rob has become the star of this story, and I think I'll have to do a Rob in college spin-off at some point or be nagged to death by hungry birds - not to mention what JAR might send my way. So having Rob grow as a person and giving him a more complex personality is important, and this slightly serious chapter was me trying to achieve this, but without losing the fun and lightness of the prompt story.
  10. Rob's parents have several motives and they should become clear later. But the one you mention is on the list. Glad you liked the chapter.
  11. Thanks CG, I think you're right. Rob could do the GSA some good, and they would be good for him too, including making him understand some of the challenges Eric and Nelson may face. I like the idea of Rob and Eric teaming up, and in a way they've always done so as Brothers. Or at least Rob has seen them as a team, but Eric needs to see the same. The next chapter is begun, and I hope for some writing time during the weekend.
  12. You're welcome, Victor. I felt bad about not posting for so long, and I'm susceptible to the stick-and-carrot method. LL and Drew provided carrots and you had the stick. As to the GSA insight, all praise goes to my beta (AC), since I have no idea about or experience with this admirable US institution. We'll get some more protective Rob, but hopefully also some fun along the way. And I hope you enjoy the Nelson POV.
  13. “I’m going to give him a piece of my mind! And if that doesn’t work, he can have my fist, again.” All of us stared at Rob, trying to work out whether he was joking or not. Mr. Perry clapped his hand over his eyes and shook his head sadly. Eric’s mom had been the one to ask Rob what he was going to do if Chris or Ryan did anything to Eric and me. Before Mrs. Perry could jump all over him, my mom spoke. “So Rob, have you thought about whether your two teammates meant to insult Eric
  14. I don't know, but he posted a chapter. and said this in the chapter note: And it was a bloody marvelous chapter too ! Answering most of the speculations and with some great Wade, Will and JJ moments. So thanks to all the amusing tinfoil users.

    Chapter 13

Wade being politely viscious, Will whipping Brad as deserved, and JJ doing a delightful opening gambit of revenge. What more could we ask!
  16. Such wonderful speculations should earn us another early chapter, methinks.

    Chapter 1

What a wonderful story. Win had me but I liked her caring side too. She was the right person at the right time for Oliver. But I wish you would write another chapter about what happened when he went back to school. I'd love to se the faces of everyone.
  18. Victor's parents seem to be quite observant and nice and caring, and they were certainly right about getting him a puppy. So it's difficult to reconcile with his fear of coming out, but I guess he knows them best, and those kind of gut feelings should be taken seriously. But it did make me sad in spite of the cute puppy.

    Chapter 14

You know we've been waiting forever for the nex chapter. pouts I was so thrilled Gavin and Tate had the all-important talk and that it went well, but now I crave more. There is still lots they need to figure out and hopefully more romantic moments too. Please tell us what happens now.
  20. Nothing beats a Royal Flush and nothing beats Gary the God of Writers when it comes to making his readers smile and cry and squeal with joy. as well as getting all the sappy emoticons in action. A Golden Hand gets a whole new meaning, the golden rings on their hands was another step into the complete heaven of their relationship. They've won each other's hearts, and they've won the battles against the forces opposing them, gaining our respect and admiration, and you have won those too, along with our love and friendship. Of course Michael couldn't wait a moment longer, and of course Kendall thought it was perfect. So do we. PS Kendall's Train of Happiness Next stop
  21. Indeed, the part about how this new discovery was abused was chillingly realistic, and I'm still a bit worried about getting nightmares over this story. And let's not forget there are still plenty of cases where the LGBT are persecuted, including losing their jobs, homes, and lives. To me no state, country, nation or religion may call itself modern or civilised or humane, if they do not do their best to protect their citizens / members from such bigotry and evil. Your story is a great reminder of the dangers of ignorance and intolerance.
  22. Wow, Drew, what a lovely surprise. I'm glad you liked the first chapter, and luckily I can tell you that there will be more descriptions and even better interactions in the next chapters, plus lots about his family and his past. Oh and don't forget to visit the story discussion forum where there are plenty of links to the places they see. I shall now go to bed with a smile on my face due to this review, thanks so much, Drew.
  23. I always felt that Jack's decision to run away in Dignity was understandable, and even though Dr. K (and his wife) annoy me, I applaud his courage to bring this up. I don't know how it is in US, but over here children of a certain age (above twelve, I think) get at least some say in whom they want to live with in case of a divorce. At age 16 they can almost make the decision, but not completely (or at least that's my impression, but I may be wrong). So this implies some sort of trust in the ability of teens to have opinions of their own lives. I hope the same consideration would relate to medical matters, but I have to admit I don't know. In UK the NHS say that girls offered the HPV vaccine at 13 are the ones who have to consent and not their parents. And I've heard of a Canadian case where a girl of sixteen organized to get MFR and other vaccines without her parents' consent. When the mother found out and was angry about it, her doctor could easily dismiss the complaint, because by law the girl could demand confidentiality. And apparently her decision on getting a MFR didn't require the approval of her parents. But actively saying no to a treatment may be different, particularly in case of a life.threathening disease. The media are still witch hunting, but perhaps they have a new prey now? A New Year's Eve of love was a beautiful way to end the first part.
  24. I've already read and enjoyed.
  25. Thanks. No nightmares (yet), only a mild case of natural science OCD.
