Well, it sure beats the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. No, seriously I liked it. You could work this into something more. Your story has real potential, Krista.

This is an intense story, Wayne. Not every family is what all could hope for but this one, with its ugly attitudes, selfish behaviors and not so hidden secrets, is awful. The writing makes a person cringe at the lot of them—including the boyfriends mother. I was glad for any bright spots when they showed up. I thought the solution to the loans was inspired thinking. Somebody has a good heart. Nicely done.

Just when I was considering rereading Larry Niven's Ringworld story again, I run into yours. The decision is now made, I will read it again. I never expected to read a story set in that universe on GA. I'm glad that you tackle(d) it.

Why did he come? He didnʼt owe the old man anything nor his mother . . . What did she ever do to stop him? Nothing but to patch him up when the old man was done. He was his own man now, and he had no need of false affection; he owed him nothing. Not that the old man would ever ask for anything. The crack-crunch of frosted grass underfoot—silvered blades crushed and snapped—were his company on the walk up the slope. Nearer to the top of the rise, a bright-red cardinal sang from a winterʼs oak tr

According to his father, Max Cauler Jr. canʼt seem to do anything right. After ʻthe old manʼ catches him in bed with another boy, heʼs left with no choice but to run away, but being homeless has a cost of its own. Can you ever go home?

I'm thinking that it would be even better if less than already supposed people started coming out. You know: more sports figures; one of the local firemen; a police officer people know and other people in the public eye. It wouldn't necessarily matter if they were people in the national spotlight. It would be just as great, maybe more so, if it were someone local that a queerling could look up to and find a good role model, to find that they're not alone. I think the average gay person really does underestimate how much influence that they actually have just by being their self. Sometimes it's enough to be out and just be you. More, can only be better. Edit: I understand Cynus' point about being inclusive, and I agree. I used the word gay as a tailored response to GA.

Happy Birthday Clochette

Another nice chapter and a fitting end to the story. I would love to read more but I don't feel that I've been left hanging until more comes. That was well done; the story is able to stand alone. Dave, you've created a fine work with Abel III's Awakening and you have every right to be proud, I hope that you are. I easily count it as among the best I have read this past year. Bravo!

I like the title "Wild" Bart, it makes me think of a western which allows me to segue into saying that I am back in the saddle and catching up on my reading. I liked this chapter for several reasons. I am reminded that the psychic abilities aren't expressed as if they are some walk-in-the-park, the abilities require work. That is shown well and we are given a real indication that hard work isn't going to be over anytime soon. The parceling of observation among the actual facts about Bart's past (something that could have become tedious) and family had a good balance. There were other small things that came across well. The eagerness to be rid of Bart by casting him off in a shuttle was one; he's so much trouble we can't bother stopping to let him off. Be gone you. I sense more trouble coming up.

Happy Birthday, CG. Many happy returns.

It's funny that this chapter, while being longer than many, seemed to fly by so quickly. How do you suppose that happened? Can't wait to find out just it what was that the guys were doing in the video.

I'm sorry for your loss, Myr.

Yes, Lisa is right, why are you not on the the birthday list? Happy Birthday! Many, many happy returns, AC.

You'll want to take a look in the Writer's Corner, Shade. There is a lot of very good advice to be found in that corner of the site.

How nice. Bravo!

The mood is set well in the beginning. The MC appears to be contemplating suicide—he has received bad news—and a character from his past is used nicely to further the mood. The interruption of events by the scientist is timely and progresses the story. In the introduction (setting and mood), the mentioned lab test is left hanging and never touched upon again in the story. The test is the fulcrum, it's the culmination of events that leads the MC to consider the river below, and something of this nature shouldn't be left to conjecture, I'm thinking. I very much enjoyed the description, especially the limits, of the portal. That was well done. The indecision and the final revelation of what advice is to be given to the MC's younger self catches the reader up and brings that moment alive. Then we come to the final moment, the point at which the entire story sings . . . Be proud. It was a brilliant moment. Right up until the MC 'suddenly has an idea' and a moment of recklessness obscures the overriding message. Yet the story remains an encouraging one despite the faults and I liked it.

2015 Academy Awards Predictions by BarricadeBoy
Ron commented on BarricadeBoy's blog entry in BarricadeBoy's Blog
I thoroughly enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy but I re-watched X-Men: Days of Future Past last night and that scene where they bust Magneto out and Quicksilver speeds around the room was stunningly well done. The rest of the movie visuals were as top notch as we've come to expect from the franchise. X-Men probably won't win but it deserved to be nominated for sure. -

Philadelphia to Host 2016 Democratic National Convention
Ron commented on methodwriter85's blog entry in Methodwriter85's Blog
The MBTA transit system doesn't have noticeable difficulties in the summer so I don't think that was a major issue. What was surprising though was that the conventioneers didn't fan out from the immediate area of where the convention was held. Most of the city did not gain the business that was promised from the opportunity. -
Philadelphia to Host 2016 Democratic National Convention
Ron commented on methodwriter85's blog entry in Methodwriter85's Blog
Boston was very nearly a ghost town when the Democrats held their convention here. The city warned the populace about traffic and crowding so well that those that could take off, did. It was one of the easiest times to get around the city as I can remember. Not the least of the bonus was being able to catch a seat at almost any restaurant in town. -
I would just like to add that I ended up with a huge bruise on my inner thigh from my adventure. And here I thought that I had escaped unscathed.

And I would ask for sunny days at or above freezing, but it's hard enough getting around without having to walk through knee deep water trapped at the intersections. As it is there are slush puddles ankle deep in some of those areas already. The thaw is not going to be better than the present condition when it finally arrives, I'm afraid. Minus 8 tonight and minus 2 the next one but no days are reaching the 32 degree temperature that you're enjoying, Mike. Be well.
