Does The Main Character Of Your Story Need To Be Likeable?

Yeah, that always bugs me endlessly. Characters who are just despicable through and through. No one is that bad. It makes things more interesting if I have to struggle with the fact ordinary people behave in rotten ways. A super villain is too neat, but can be fun in a Bond setting or a comic book.- 18 replies

Well, I thought it was some wolf acting on behalf of the vampires,who gave Colt blood to break out his inner vampire. That would explain why he had to leave the pack (can't have an active vampire now, can we?) and living as a young man again but alone. Now with JAR saying I'm in for a surprise, I guess it could be Jeffrey giving Colt a vamp suppressant, to keep his vamp side down. Since he's lost the WW, it would leave him without powers/potential powers. He would be betraying his heritage, since the Lord 2 would want to harness the power of Colt's vampire side and this wouldn't be possible now. In conclusion, I'm confused. Nothing new there...

You paint such vivid pictures with your words and always transport me to the places you describe. Seemingly simple words, but in reality so full of true emotion and meaning. That's not an easy thing to do.

I was tempted to say "Winter is coming" referring to Adrian, but that would perhaps be mean to him. He seems sensitive enough about his looks as it is... And now they are all going to end up in Nabius by boat? Will be an interesting time at the Di Coteau place. And the summit on top of that...

Hmm... Can't his dad simply cut off his money? That would make it very hard for Dorian to stay on. He should stay, though, and try to make his own life separate from his dad. Will be hard, with him in the race to be vice president. Although, right now, I'm not sure he should stay if he can't leave that room... It could turn really ugly. I would go nuts if I had to live with someone like that and not be able to choose for myself who I shared a room with. A strange rule, I think, but it has its reasons, I'm sure.

Since practically everyone hates one of my MCs, but keep on reading (thank God), I'd say it's possible. As Dugh pointed out, there's a lot of ranting. I wasn't prepared for it, because I honestly didn't see him the same way as my readers. An interesting experience!- 18 replies

Marcus is a wise man... It pays to know the devil you're with. Ysabel knowing about the marriage could cause interesting 'discussions' at the summit. If they all make it that far. Luca... He's growing up so fast. LOL Will there be a conflict between Adrian and Eamon? Will they both fight for his affections? Who will win...? For a 'simple sex toy' getting proposed to by a prince must be virtually unbelievable.

So Corey is finally realizing he's been a bit hard on Jason? About time... But he's right about them needing a talk. At least Corey needs one ot lay his own ghosts to rest. He might even realize it's not about Jason, but his father.

I think Deke needs to realise Kraig is barely able to stand up or even eat. It's no wonder his sexuality is sort of turned off. When in survival mode, I would guess even guys have a hard time accessing those types of feelings. If indeed Kraig doesn't feel the same, then they appear to be in a spot of trouble...

So, is Nathan out of their lives now? Sweet and a bit sad at the same time that they could share this brief experience. Maybe they can stay in touch. And I might be weird but I love when you get all graphic! LOL A nice change from much of the sweetness I encounter reading here (my own stories included...).

OK, Roger has given me the heebeejeebees since day 1, but I could never think he was some sort of serial killer/abductor. I mean he apparently has done this before, if he's so comfortable he even brings his boyfriend up to stay while he has a victim in his bunker. Cold... If indeed Josh is unaware, which I think and for Galen's sake hope. Galen has to be OK. Or there will be pitchforks... Very good pacing to this chapter. You kept the onward momentum and still managed to show the day-to-day, rather unglamorous side to police work. It's not all CSI and magic gadgets...
