I love to hear that voice of hope, the one that calls us through the darkness. Thank you for sharing this poem, tim. Hugs.

My preference as a reader and writer is for a couple. However, I’ve read a few good stories with triangles or other geometries.

Burial and Kisses Three
Parker Owens commented on Parker Owens's story chapter in Burial and Kisses Three
Thank you so much for your encouraging comments. The geometry of Skyscrapers seem to lend themselves to centering - and these seemed to flow easily. I appreciated your thoughts on the first - speaking about sorrow and remembering through an object is precisely what I was trying to do. You were so good to read these. -

Thank you, tim. That old blue tie is back on its rack again. I will see it there and be reminded of a certain voice, and the innumerable stories it told. I am glad you liked the second. It will warm my heart when the wind blows cold. -

I dearly hope you will one day feel those passions. Perhaps this will be that year, in the same year you have no need of the funeral suit. May it be so. Thank you for reading these. -

Burial and Kisses Three
Parker Owens commented on Parker Owens's story chapter in Burial and Kisses Three
I am glad you found the sweet to go with the melancholy here, Gary. Both are present, yet I would not visit you with any pain. For that, I am sorry. I am grateful for your kind words - thank you. -

You are so nice to respond to these, and so kindly, too. I hope the first one, a not-really-rubayat, didn’t rub you the wrong way with its form. In such a setting as this, it’s the detail that can frame the whole, as with the cardigan you mentioned. The second set was a different kind of thing altogether. Thank you for reading them. -

Dont let this particular ‘in-process’ scare you away. This story could be finished, or there might be more. That’s part of its beauty, in my opinion.- 7 comments

Burial That same blue tie has seen a somber day or two when ashes lie upon an earthen bed, astrew, where late the blue eyed grasses grew. I wore it new in bleak December, cold and grey, as snowflakes flew and cousins hastened on their way a hollow eyed farewell to say. But yesterday the sun shone fair blue silk to greet, in brief delay to turn each face to skies so sweet, as if dull sadness to defeat. The hea

Thanks very much Gary! It was one of the first stories I read on GA. Later, I happened to visit the area where the story might have occurred. It was haunting to do so, in a way.- 7 comments

Things outside Ember and Brady ‘s little world are developing, both good and concerning. But inside that world, things are just fine. Thank you.

How wonderful! I am very happy for you!

I like this immensely, especially for its sense of waiting and tension. A face, a smile, and a touch that ever quickens the heart... very beautiful.

Under Glass and An Act of Self
Parker Owens commented on Mikiesboy's story chapter in Under Glass and An Act of Self
An Act of Self resonates with me for its truth. A poet is separated from what is observed, even when one is in an intensely felt moment. Under Glass struck me hard, for this speaks to the crushing isolation of the observed, not the observer. I admire these poems, tim. They’re clear and stark and make me chew over their lines carefully.- 18 comments

If these are the words meant for you at that dawn, then I return them to you gratefully. The dawn and the song of the white throated sparrow were great blessings to be savored, as are your kind thoughts. Thank you.

You made me swelter just reading each line at the beginning; I feared one of us would succumb to heatstroke. And then you enter the green refuge of the trees. How well the forest can cool the body and refresh the mind. You depict this wonderfully well. Everyone needs a forest kind of place. Thank you for this respite from the heat...

Aren’t we all our own worst critics? I am glad the images come through to you in this poem. It was an unforgettable morning.
-
Gary, you are so very kind. This form was hard to write in - much more so than I suspected it might be. You’re right in that we both find a deep well of inspiration in nature. A midsummer’s dawn could not help but draw forth awe and a desire to write.
-
Thank you, dear XQ. I appreciate your inspiration. Imposing rhyme on this made it harder to compose than I supposed it would. And it was a glorious dawn...

Dawn upon the eastern horizon growing, bathing birch and tamarack, redly glowing, over marsh and mountainside, new light showing, waking the meadow; Torn the long night's circumspect silent shadow, sweet the notes first sounded with great bravado, echoes now the hopeful white throated sparrow, calling his soul mate; "Hey, Sam, Hey Sam Peabody," sung with slow weight, outsized heart cry mournfully fills the lea gate, that with daylight one speckled bird may locate ardor o'erflowi

Very beautiful, definitely moving. You speak with compassion and love as you reach out your hand.

I connected with this in that Mindfulness is a habit I would like to develop. I admire you for this, and appreciate your writing about it.

Incredibly sad. Sad that James couldn’t feel he could open up to Kenny, never had that moment of intersection with another who could unlock his doors, tragic that despair overtook him. You write it too well.

Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. I really love the way Pete and Geoff simply met and became a date for one another.
